On third day of waiting for my dealer to call back. Must not want to sell us a Mini.
If some folks missed my other posts, I was right in the middle of sealing the deal when the dealer was interupted by another customer. The promised call back hasn't arrived yet....even with me calling back to be put off again and then talking to another rep who put an urgent call back message on the salesperson's desk. I also left a message on this person's voice mail.
If it doesn't happen today, and I'm NOT driving in as I feel the ball is in their court, I'm searching other avenues. Saw a couple of nice Minis on E-Bay, buy not with the packages we want.
Ah well....

Jimbob;

Who are you dealing with at Motorwerks?

And what do you mean by "seal the deal"? Are you putting money down for the waitlist? Are you ordering your car?

PM me if you like, as Motorwerks was the dealership I bought from.

Thanks for the info. Maybe there is an explanation for the non-call back, but it seems like a matter of courtesy to try and have somebody at the dealership make the contact.

What's the sales tax in Tennessee?

Give him a break. Probably busy or lost your number. If you're main interest is great customer service DO NOT buy a MINI. If you want the funnest car on the planet then just call him back.

tmac,
I sent you a reply message..

Also I should tell everyone I don't mean to bash this dealership ( blanket statements because of feeling a bit miffed is unfair to all not involved in this particular instance) and I won't name the salesperson. There may be circumstances involved here that I don't know about...I'd sure like to have a positive experience with the purchasing of our Mini and I'm not discounting that there still is the possibility....
But just spouting off a little...

Jim

orbhot,
We definitely want the funniest car on the planet! We're in love with the car.
Have you had some customer service issues with your dealer?

It seems like tons of people are vying to get a Mini....'spose I'll just have to be more aggressive in the matter.....be like George McFly when he finally had enough in Back To The Future

It won't matter where you buy the car (sales tax) you will pay the tax when you license in your home state. No tax payed to the dealer when buying out of state

It pays to be aggressive....I found that my dealership was very slow to answer e-mails and return phone calls in the early stages. Of course this was back when the showrooms had just opened...once the car was ordered, they paid more attention, although slowly....

COOPERation,
Right then!...it's time to swallow the pride, put on the helmet and pads and bust my way through the tire kickers to the dealer's desk. "@%$#@!, why didn't you call back, here's my dough, now sign me up!"....or words to that effect...

Thanks everyone for the encouragement.

I'd do the Roadshow in Memphis trip.
Roadshow is a great place from what I
have heard.
And you could visit Graceland....or is that
in Nashville???

I had a great service experience the day I walked in and gave my down payment. After that, it was dozens of unreturned calls. I agree that a lot of MINI dealerships may not be known for great service, but belive me, it's worth the hassle for an AMAZING car!!

Yeah, waiting on a phone that doesn't ring is a pain.
On the other hand, using the sage advice of others who have gone through this process has been very rewarding....see my new post "Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-Dee-A!" (sort of like a brass band announcing an exultation).

I too am a Roadshow fan. I purchased mine on Nov 30 from John (drove it off the lot....sorry "wait for -insert month here- clubbers". I still email him from time to time and the overall experience was more than pleasant. Plus I got to drive it home to KC and get some of those painful break-in miles out of the way.

Yes...Graceland is in Memphis and it's cooler than I thought it would be.

When I first got the advice to look at RoadShow, I looked at the dealer ratings...overwhelmingly positive if not outstanding. I called my wife and we pondered the situation over the phone...then, taking COOPERation's advice in hand, I went to the dealership and all turned out well.
We're fairly close to MotorwerksMini and the BMW dealership and that is advantageous as far as communication and service ( cautiously crossed fingers).

We'll see how it plays out.

Your local dealer will service the car and treat you with respect regardless of where you purchase, so don't let that guide your decision.
