This might be a stupid question but what are the "vent-like" boxes on the interior roof on my 06 MINI?

I've read through the owners manual and couldn't get an answer....

There is one behind the front map lights and a boxlike structure behind the interior light.

At least one of them is the motion sensor that works with the OEM alarm when it is installed

 

I was under the impression that the one in front was a speaker for a Bluetooth enabled cell-phone, but that could be incorrect.

 

You are right, the 3 series has that too - it is the built in microphone for the BMW/MINI cell phone kit (not nec. bluetooth). I couldnt think of what she was referring to at first; I know the one on the ceiling is the motion sensor also like other BMWs.

 

If you dont have a sunroof there would be a vent button where the roof switch would be. The other i have been told is where the mic for a phone kit would be. The motion sensor is the square box over the rear seats in the back
