That has got to be some sort of rear engine transplant! At least that is my best guess. . . .

either that or they were seriously yanking your chain.
That much horsepower in a car this small seems impossible....it'd blow the car apart

Wouldn't that be awesome? Take a MINI Cooper shell (no point in starting with an S), rip out the engine and transmission, put in a storage bay with carpet, etc...

Then stuff a HUGE and powerful engine in behind the rear seats, install a wall (with small window, ala Ferrari Modena) immediately behind the front seats with soundproofing included...

Install a RWD transmission, hook it all up to the factory steering wheel, controls, etc...

VOILA! Monster RWD MINI! The only issue left would be the weight balance - it sure would drive very differently with no weight in the front. Also the rear suspension would have to be toughed up a lot to handle the weight of the engine.

I subscribe and I've seen nothing like that in Car and Driver.

yep, that is what i figured. he just saw me and my boss return from lunch (little suckin up). he spouted a real sounding talk about several mods and performance upgrades bla bla bla....

So i thought nothing of it...my boss came in said he looked for it on cardriver.com and found nothing. since he got his first ride in a MCS he wanted to really know if there was a super MC out there.

Did it have the 1.5 liter BMW engine from their 80's F1 cars pushing something like 60 lbs of boost?

That would be fun .
