>>I wasn't sure I would like it at first, but if you let it do its thing it actually works quite well. Trying to operate it like a manual system will only result in frustration and defeats the purpose anyway. It will only come on full blast if the temperature you set it at is significantly different from the outside temperature. When I use it, I usually set it at 68 or 70 and then leave it alone. At this setting, fan speed is a notch below moderate. It's worked fine for me, plus I like having the option of using it manually if I wish.

It took us two weeks to find the RIGHT temp for the Auto AC, but it seems 68 is perfect for us...fan seems to stay low and the temp in the car is comfortable...I'm only wondering if there is a perfect summer versus winter temp. For for now, I'm celebrating finding the perfect AC temp...once you do that the system works like a charm!

I had a 1989 Buick Park Ave before my MINI. It had auto climate control, and I love it! It's the best feature on the vehicle, but the MINI version needs some work, no doubt. I imagine it will work better in the summer when you actually need A/C.

But still....the best thing about the Auto climate in the MINI is the fact that it comes with the carbon air filter, which keeps the air inside the MINI clean and fresh. This is not included in the MINIs without the Auto A/C. This is worth its price to me when I can retreat to my MINI during hayfever season.

I didn't realize that - YES then, it is definitely worth any extra hassle and I'm glad I have it...as mentioned before in this thread, it made financial sense (cents

>>The old car that I spoke of was a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO! Its climate control seemed more logical than the MINI's setup!
>>

More logical maybe, but of lower overall quality - $5 bucks says your climate control buttons are cracked and at night you're blinded by the light coming through the cracks (I have a red '93 SHO )

I can't beleive this thred. :???: Are you that uncomfortable that someone wants to get rid of the car. Geez! Lighten up people. It's just the heater/AC. I have the auto climate. If I get cold I change something. I prefer to spend more time having fun driving. The car is great!

Sorry if this offends someone.

Oh yah. If the fan is too loud... turn up the tunes.

I think the fact that if all these folks are writing in about, it shows there is something lacking in the climate control. I noticed it on a brief test ride. It drove me crazy, but I will adapt to it because I love the car.

You are right about the tunes, it takes care of rattles too!
