Still Waiting to Order
I got my name on the list to order my Mini (which cost $500 in Colorado) and was told end of October for allocation and ordering. I just got told that the allocation was short and I will now have to wait until the end of November to order. I am quite bummed.

In case anyone's interested (and this may very well be common knowledge, but regardless, it bears repeating)...
What I was told at the dealership where I'm ordering was that any and all dealerships have to wait about 2 1/2 months from ordering to receiving. That is, once a production number is assigned, the car actually exists in some form, and takes approximately 10 weeks to build, proof, and ship.
Any longer time than that is due to being on a waiting list to order and any shorter time is because the dealer had more custom build orders allotted to it than it actually filled or had a cancellation after assignment of a production number. Either way, an order that takes less than the 10 weeks required can happen by modifying an in-process build.
Since dealership where I was told this both refuses to accept deposits on orders and sells at sticker price, I am inclined to believe it.

--It took me 2 months and 8 days for the wee thing to come from Oxford to California, then finally on a quick boat ride to Honolulu Hawaii. It was actually 2 weeks early!

ok, so it's only been since past monday, 4 days, but I'm dying! I can't wait! Thanks for listening to me vent about this, it helps!
BTW... My dealer is Morristown BMW/MINI. They are very nice and so far a positive experience. Anyone else have an opinion about them?

Hey... I just called 866 ask-mini and after entering my prod # the automated voice told me my car is in production will be completed on Nov 7th. What Production week does that make me? If its actually done on the 7th, how long do you think i will take it to get to my dealer in NJ? How come the customer area of miniusa still has me listed as "on order"?
