new 06 Color pics..or, Ugh, Royal Grey Changes Everything.....

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ry.php?cat=912

Just got back from picking up an oil filter at my dealer. They had two Royal Greys (one MC, on MCS) and an Space Blue/Silver. Also a Astro black with the silver top.

First, the easy part...the silver is hot on the right car. It looks great on both the SB and the AB. For me, much nicer than the white in many cases (but, hey, i don't like white mirror caps or the sunroof with a white top...) The silver offers nice contrast, but a little softer than the white. I bet the solar red/silver will be outstanding...

The space blue in the pics has silver bonnet stripes and will be getting a silver grill from a PS MCS that was upgraded to a Aero Grill. I think that will be a very slick combo. Space blue is very dark, picture almost a blue version of astro black. I will say, the one was in teh show room (kind of dark) and it was a somewhat overcast day, so the color was not popping. Either way, it's pretty dark. The silver top & stripes did a nice job of brightening it all up.

To my eye, it DID NOT look like the pic on motoring file:

Now...the hard part. Royal Grey.

ugh...what a hot color. I was so set on dark silver/black. Then, nah, every one has dark silver, and it's well, too dark. Ok, no problem, Pure silver/black. Very hot. Get some dark rims and an Aero grill, it's all over. And why would I want RG in the first place, you can't get a black top.

Ok, so you really don't need a black top...the sunroof just kind of fades into it. Don't get me wrong, the color is very much NOT black. It has a warmth to it that PS and DS don't have. Put it this way, on a scale of 0-100% black, it would go like this:

2% Pepper white
10% Pure Silver
50% Dark Silver
85% Royal Grey
100% Jet Black

It's pretty cool...the dark plastic arches and stuff just sort of blend into the car, obviously not painted, but looking very integrated. I actually liked the black MC bonnet vent more than the chrome S one (i think!!!). And the R99's and the BBS rims on them were just killer. Makes me even more certain that I want to use the set of dark bronze Rotas that i have access to...

So, back to the drawing board on the color selection....I really thought i had my mind made up. I can not wait to see a RG with an aero grill put in...that will really be something.

enjoy!
