R50/53 HK Sound System vs Regular System??
Loving my Hk system it is as "k_h_d" said very very good. People are blown away when I turn the volume up and they never think it's factory, no distortion what so ever at high volume no matter what type of music you listen to.
Wait til that POS amp finally goes out on you. Listen to the great sound then. POS, piece of junk amp that has been impossible for me to find repair facilities. I just use my MP3 player and good noise isolating earplugs now.
HK amp is bad?
They tend to fail. I am on my second amp after driving without my stereo for more than a decade.
Funny reading some of the comments in this old thread where people say the HK system sounds good. I have to disagree. It's only been in the past 6 months or so that I finally got a replacement amp and I have to say I was surprised how bad this stereo sounds. My wife drives a 2007 Volvo S40 with the top stereo system in it and that stereo is fantastic! Very loud and clear across the range. The HK in my R53 has great bass but that's about it. Mid and high's are virtually non-existent. Compared to the silence I have endured for the past decade plus, the HK is nice, but every time I drive the S40, it's like aural bliss.
