Check Engine Light

Went on today. I washed the car earlier in the day. Also, I installed a Chrome Bonnet Scoop as well. We were in the parking lot today, and the DSC light stayed on for about 5 minutes and then went off and the Check Engine Light stayed on and does not go off.

Any Suggestions besides time to call for Mini service?

What mods do you have? Any ECU mods or injectors? Also what year is your car? Sorry for all the questions

Why not take it to autozone and get the code read? It is impossible for anyone here to guess what could be wrong with your car, especially with such a simple description.

Check the gas cap, maybe not closed all the way, you need to turn it till you hear the click. Leave the car for 30 min. and then start again, see if it works for you. Other than that, since you have no mods, I can not think of anything else... Maybe O2 sensor, happened to me 2 weeks ago, 12k 2005 MCS.

Good luck, hope nothing serious.

No, '05's have a separate light for that.

Take it in, you have a fault somewhere and it needs to be fixed under warranty.

I agree with checking the gas cap. Its always the first thing that I do as its often the problem with many cars, and an easy fix without having to take the car in. Beyond that, take it in.

wat he said. in your case your car might have a problem.

the MINI's are SES trigger happy...i think you should just get a cheepo DTC reader (OBD2 Scanner) and just scan it, erase it and keep track of it. if it keeps popping up like very other week, then take it in.

welcome to the SES club.
