I'm sure someone has posted something like this before, but now it's ME so it's different.

I have a CR on order with all the options, except leather, scheduled to be here mid-march. I checked out the South African MINI site yesterday (which by the way is very cool) and they have a test which you can take which will determine the MINI color for you. (go take the test) My results were BLACK -it says that without a doubt I should be driving a black MINI. Now the dilemma is my wife and I have been debating furiously since our order went in whether or not we should have gone with a black MINI or the CR. Our first MCS was CR and it was great and we loved it.

HERE is the KICKER!!! -i called my dealer yesterday and believe it or not there is a triple black MCS one week behind me in the order process that is not yet claimed. It has all the packages I want plus leather and the new anthracite (sp?) interior. I'm not a fan of leather and I'm not sure if shelling out the extra 1,250 clams is worth it and I have not seen a great set of aftermarket wheel on a Black. Not to mention that I knew what roof graphic I was going with already -


What would you do???????

 

I think you need to go look at the MINIs again and decide which color is best - but they look different in different lights!

I just took the test and it also said I should drive a pure black MINI; maybe that is the only advice - they have lots of black paint left over :smile:

I *am* driving a black MC today (white roof) but my soon-arriving MCS is Indi Blue; not certain still that I should not have ordered Chili Red, but I want the Lapis interior ...

I personally am a HUGE fan of the black MCS....there was one at one of our meets last November and it was SO slick. But if you already had plans for the CR I would just stick with that. If you already had your roof graphic picked and everything, it might just be easier. To this day I still look longingly sometimes at Indie blue, but in the long run I know that the silver was the best choice for me.

took the test also - pure black MINI... that's funny!

I went for an Indi Blue with a white top - I AGONIZED over the decision too. Took me weeks to decide. I think the colors show the true personality of a MINI, but that's my humble opinion. Black would be nice too!!

Black for me as well... twice. BTW, if you are patient, you can find links on the color chips to reveal each color's personality traits.

Nothing like what i was planning on getting but they got my personality kind of close.

I was told I'm a "pure black" as well.

Funny, the personality traits they list for pepper white owners are kind of jerky. Color me offended!

 

I just took the test and guess what?......PURE BLACK! I think they have stock in a black paint only manufacturer. I just took delivery of a DS/W MCS with all pkgs and love it, but I must concede I look really hard every time I see an all black MCS. Maybe that will be the color I order when the rumored RS comes out and I replace my MCS.

 

I got pure silver w/ black roof!! I was expecting black!! :smile:

Ouch. I kinda liked it (and it's getting painted black right now--status 152 at the factory). Should I call them?

My dealer had 2 all black (and fully loaded MCS with NAV, Harmon-Kardon, etc) for immediate delivery.

Nice looking car, but a maintenance nightmare. I have never seen a black car that lasts clean more than 10 minutes after a wash. Also scratches, dents, dings, etc are triple amplified on a black car.

If you live in a hot climate, a black car is a bad idea (Too hot) and often proves difficult to sell.

Black paint also makes the MINI look even smaller. To me, black goes better with German luxury sedan, not hot hatches like the MINI.

Black paint = BAD IDEA.

 

BEWARE - I also did the test and was told I should get a Black MINI. I think someone's relative made a lot of money selling black paint at the MINI plant.........

If you would like a little advice - Go w/the color that first caught your eye. It caught your eye first for a reason. Good luck.

 

what do ya know .... it says I should be Solid Black ... WAIT! the one sitting outside my office right now is ..... Solid Black ! ( ... albeit Cosmos metalic ...)
