ordered new 2006 mc

Hi, this is my first post. I wanted to say hi, and tell you how excited I am to be getting my first mc. I just love this car, and can see how easy it is to get caught up in all of the excitement. I ordered my car in the new solar red with silver top, and silver bonnet. I was torn between that and the space blue with new checkmate package, but checkmate package is so limited. I found out that the interior is space blue, no matter what color exterior you get. Also, the seats are cloth and leather, and I have two dogs, and am afraid that the light blue cloth portion of the seat will get dirty very easily. Oh well, I hope I made the right choice. It is so hard if you have not actually seen the car color in person. If anyone has seen the sr in person, please let me know your thoughts. Also, I am getting the bonnet stripe, but was wondering if I should wait, and put something aftermarket on instead. Does anyone know if these bonnet stripes can be removed easily, or is it a very expensive proposition.
thanks

Hey-

Welcome!! My neighbor had a white MC that he bought a couple years ago, and did the "aftermarket" bonnet stripes on it about 2 months after he bought it. I think they were MINI-OEM bonnet stripes, however, he did put them on himself. I

Its not a hard process, basically you have to prep the car correctly-completely clean body surface for proper adhesion, and be patient when lining up the stripes-patience is key!! Good luck with the car! Any other Q's definately drop a line on here-everyone here is really helpful!! Post pics too when you get it!!

Solar red with silver top sounds GREAT! I am not a fan of the bonnet stripes from the factory - just because they start and stop a quarter of an inch from folding under. There are so many resources out there for bonnet stripes is fun colors as well as designs - get your MINI and get to know the car before you decide. I have no room to talk though, I have no bonnet stripes as I just don't think they look good on the Velvet Red paint finish. I am sure you will enjoy your MC as I drove a 2005 and I thought it was so solid and drove great. I love my 2003 MC and would not trade it in for anything!

I will say though, the first thing you want to do to your MC is a cold air intake and a Milltek or Borla exhaust. It is so worth it and you will get the precious extra horsepower out of it you need. Don't let the dealership tell you that you cannot do this as it will not interfere with normal operation of vehicle.

Have fun with it and post comments once you get it and take it for a spin a block or two!

Well, I just placed my order for an 06 MCS last week. I decided on the silver with Cordoba Beige interior and loaded her up minus the JCW stuff (for now). I can't wait!!!!

On a side note, it is going to be fun breaking her in on the Autobahn and German backroads.

The bonnet stripes are easy to remove. Aren't the 06 stripes, at least some of them, a different design? I'd get the factory ones on an 06 with a silver top. Solar Red on MINIUSA really looks good, I'm sure you will love it.
