Interesting evening @ the carwash!

I am going to the MOALA breakfast meeting tomorrow and thought it would be a good idea to wash my MINI, since it’s been almost a month. So I am at the carwash and see this guy pull up in a brand new - no plates on it yet - black Porsche Cayenne. He pulled into the truck booth and began scrubbing the entire car down with the big brush - and I mean he was SCRUBBING it with a vengeance! Keep in mind, this is the same brush the rednecks use to clean mud off the tires of their 4x4 pickups, so it‘s full of grime and rocks! I would have said something but he was acting like a jerk and yelling at his wife, so it was quite entertaining to see this fool completely ruin his paint job.

Anyway, I leave the carwash and get about a mile down the road then my steering gets heavy. Damn - flat tire and no spare! I tried to pump it up with my portable compressor but the valve stem was broken. I am not sure if I broke it while I was scrubbing my wheels or if I broke it trying to get the compressor hooked up, but I couldn’t find any nails in the tire, so I am hoping for the best. Lucky for me, my lovely girlfriend, Julie, rescued me in the Jetta (we watched Driving Mrs. Daisy today so she was calling our evening, "Driving Mr. Crazy"). We picked up a spare I had in my garage and switched it out. What a night!

Has anybody else broken a valve stem like this?

nice story!

my kosei's valve stem broke 3x in the past. just leaked air and the tire
went flat. No apparent reason, just broke at the inside seal where the
nut is.

the guy who installed it might've tightened the nut too far...but 3x in
like 2 years? wat the heck? (this was the old Snipers i had on my old
car).

...Turns out they knew I was watching, but the crew had forgotten to turn on the camera...

...Turns out it was being repossessed by the leasing company and he has so many miles on it that he has to pay...

...Turns out they are going through a divorce and she gets...

...Turns out that was not his car, but her husband's...

...Turns out he is a redneck who was stoned out of his mind and thought he was scrubbing...

PS: Sorry about the valve stem. I didn't know such a thing could happen.
