Any Update on Euro Delivery?

I was wondering if anybody has heard lately when Mini intends to offer Euro Delivery. I called them and got the usual run-around.

Thanks!

BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, etc all offer the "European Delivery" option. Basically how it works, your order your new vehicle through an authorized US dealership, pay 10%-20% less that if you were going to get the car right out of dealer stock. A factory order is put and the dealer gives you a date for you to pick up the vehicle at the company's headquarters in Europe. You make travel arragements (Sometimes you get discounts on airfare) and then go pick up the car at headquarters. For example, if you ordered a new BMW 3 series, you'll take delivery in Munich, Germany. BMW throws in 1 month or so of free road insurance, I believe 1 or 2 nights paid hotel stay, maps, travel guides, etc. You get to drive your brand new car in Europe and make a nice vacation out of it. At the end of your European stay, you drop of the car at any authorized customs agent in Europe for US bound shipping and then you take your flight back home. About 1 or 2 months later, your car shows up at your dealer for a "second delivery" and you take it home

I believe they'll let you keep the Euro license plate as a souvenir of your car delivery adventure.

For the past 3 years, MINIUSA has said they'll be working on some sort of European delivery option for the new MINI, but nothing has happened or has been said ever since. I believe www.motoringfile.com had an article (Do a search) on the topic not very long ago and one of the concerns that was cited was to deliver a Left hand drive vehicle in a Right hand drive country = Liability.

I wish they had this. We have been wanting to go back to Europe (Last time we were there was 4 years ago) and if MINIUSA ever outs together a program like this we would give it serious consideration

LETS ALL WRITE MINI AND DEMAND EUROPEAN DELIVERY PROGRAM. why? simple, delivery in Oxford will allow BMW/MINI to maintain and grow marketshare. Since there is no USA 1-series bimmer, MINI must step up - also, Audi has started their eurodelivery program for the A3, Volvo has perhaps the best program out there and are about to launch their C30, SAAB for the 9-3, and so on. this market niche is getting very crowded with fun
and high performing vehicles.

PLEASE EMAIL now to: mini.assistance@miniusa.com

we all thank you,
obc

In the recent Q&A session regarding the R56, Gabe on motoringfile said that there are no plans for MINI euro delivery.
