You seem pretty well informed about these cars, are there any other significant service bulletins out? Any recalls? I'm always a little sceptical about buying a car that is relatively "new" to the market since it usually takes a few years to work out any bugs.

Joker, thanks for your input on winter!

Thanks a bunch!

Don, our friend here is "Lois," not "Louis!" She's a gal (like me)! As for the John Cooper Works package, you can tune your MINI aftermarket for about $1500-2000. You won't have the JCW warranty, but you'll have the ZOOOOOOOOM!

Plenty of Americans, Canadians, and Europeans enjoy their MINIs' performance in the winter. They buy winter wheels for them. The front-wheel drive handles well in the snow.

Lois, my sincere apologies!

MINIClo, thanks, that's exactly the info I was after. I'll give it a year or so then see what needs tweaking... that's the problem with having had a car like the NSX, you get used to the kick in the small of your back and it's tough to go to anything less, but I'm pretty sure the S's fun factor, handling and more-than-sufficient acceleration will make up for it.

On another note (pun intended) I was wondering if the S twin exhaust is a bit more pronounced/throaty than the normal one?

Thanks!
Don

I have been slowly tweaking my Wanda. First of all, I installed a K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake. I waited until she was almost out of warranty to do the 15% pulley reduction and install the Unichip (engine management program). She just SCREAMS now!

The handling in just your basic day-to-day driving makes you happy every time you climb into your MINI! Then when you find some twisties or a challenging road course, you can really see what MINIs were built for! Such great handling in all sorts of conditions!

I love the MCS's exhaust note....it's understated, but sounds good. What I really love is the supercharger's whine.......

Here I am with Wanda on my first cross-country roadtrip back in '03. We are on the St. Petersburg pier in Florida.

Now she has chrome bonnet stripes, PIAA rally lights, tinted windows and a
silvertone metallic Union Jack sunroof flag.

And here is a dewy Wanda in Alabama this past April, during this year's cross-country roadtrip....showing off her brand-new chrome bonnet stripes!

That's ok, Don:smile: My first MINI's name was Louie You can see from that how much I love MINIs. I'm on my second one Nothing was wrong with the first, I just had to have the Cabrio. And as far as I know there are no other service bulletins out. I think they are having some issues with the new S automatic but that's about it. I'd buy another MINI Cabrio in a minute. I checked out your specs & you are getting a BIG discount. My MC Cabrio was that much with similar specs. Happy MINI shopping
