06 update

Went by the dealer today and learned several things.

1. They have color samples of the new colors. The solar red is more orange and less vivid than the chili red. The space blue is much darker and more metallic than the HB.

2. The 16" Bridge spoke wheels and 17" Flame spoke are only available in the checkmate package.

3. The silver roof appears to only be available with the checkmate package.

4. The checkmate package includes all the options of the performance package, with different wheels.

These were confirmed with a MINI SRP (suggested retail price) list.

Do you have one? It hasn't appeared online and would be great if someone could scan and post it.

Chili Red w/ silver is the color combo I was looking for. But the sheet only list option number 382 "Roof and Mirror Caps in White" or 384 ".....Black". What option code was your silver? Also since silver is metallic, was there a charge for that?

lets see, if i'm reading my order sheet correctly, silver roof and mirrors are 3AF, no charge option. like i said, you should double check with the dealer, or call MINI USA and ask about it.

I see 3AF, but it is listed in the Checkmate package (ZCM). I'm ordering a MC and I wanted the 16" bridge spoke wheels, but the dealer said that since it was only included in the Checkmate package, it could no be ordered seperately.

have you only been working with one delaer? it's been my experience that some dealers will tell you one thing in order to get you to buy something more expensive, like saying the silver roof was only available in the checkmate package. i'd try calling another dealer and seeing if they say the same thing. and if all else fails, call julie at classic MINI.

Silver Roof Color is available in several colors, not just the CheckMate package. The Checkmate package is not available until October build, so it isn't in the interest of the salesperson to try to hold off a sale. I would say it is more likely that the salesperson is simply not familiar with all the new option and color choices yet. It does take some time to get it all down pat when you're looking at all the possible combinations.

I would suggest sitting with the sales manager, or whomever actually enters in the order, and go through a practice build to see if the car can or can't be built a certain way.

Since the 2006 are not available yet, you can't no for sure until you try. MINI literature can be a bit confusing, even to those who work with it every day. The only true test is to attempt to actually configure a car on the MINI system.

Good Luck.

I'm going to clarify a few things here since I have a ton of this info confirmed with contacts at MINIUSA.

2. The 16" Bridge spoke wheels and 17" Flame spoke are only available in the checkmate package.

Both of these wheels can be ordered as dealer accessories. In other words they are available outside the checkmate package.

3. The silver roof appears to only be available with the checkmate package.

Not according to several MINIUSA internal documents.

4. The checkmate package includes all the options of the performance package, with different wheels.

It also includes the special Checkmate interior (details here: http://www.motoringfile.com/2005/07/...ptions_package)

Gabe,

Thanks for the clarification. I was quoting what appeared to on the MPR order sheet. Since I saw no option for the silver roof, except on the Checkmate package, I assumed this was the only way to order. Me bad!!

Regarding the wheels, can they be substituted for the 16" stars in the Sport package, or do I wind up with an extra set of wheels. Do you have any idea what the cost of the bridge spokes for a MC is to be?

Unfortunately you'll just wide up with an extra set of wheels. Depending on where you live, you could opt for the all-seasons on the 5-stars and then use those for the winter. A little known bit of info, MINIUSA has wanted to make the x-spoke (the 16" wheel for the MCS) available as an option on the MC sport package - I believe BMW AG nixed it. BTW - You may find it easier to go directly through a parts department for them

Interesting - I would have gone for this were it available. I had no interest in the 17" boat anchors included with the Sport package.

On the form I have for 2006 MCS ordering, it shows the silver roof as being available on CR, PH, AB, HB, RG, SB, and DS (no BRG, PS or PW). It also shows a separate line item for the roof color options, inluding silver as a choice, which is listed in a separate location from the checkmate package options.

Are the new English Leather Seats available for the cabrio? The seats were originally meant for the Park Lane package. It appears many features for the special packages (such as new colors) are not being made available for the cabrio.

I read somewhere that MINIusa will only offer the silver roof & mirrors in color combinations that "look good". Isn't being nice and exact.

Hey BRGMAXMINI,

On your order form is there a cost for the silver roof on the MC or MCS?

Also, does it show that you can order the 16" bridge spoke wheel for the MC. I know it can be ordered in the checkmate, but I would like it instead of the 5 star wheel.

the silver roof and mirrors is a no cost option, which i'll admit i'm surprised by considering the $450 it takes to get a metallic colored car. i expected at least a $100 charge
