R50/53 2006 prices released
2006 prices released
Did not see it already posted, but on motoring file Gabe has the new base prices of '06 models. Looks like only the hardtop S base price is getting an increase - $200. Some options are increased, and the JCW package prices.

Only thing I regret is not getting those English Leather seats... otherwise, I'm happy that the new 'o5 will be here in a couple weeks (loading on the boat tonight
)
...Didn't want to wait until October or November for delivery

Just another reinforcement of my belief that the 2004 is the best MINI of them all (granted, I'm biased since I have one): no teething problems (knock on wood), amber circle taillights, back-up light where it belongs, and now a bargain, too!
(inflation adjustments and other high falutin explanations not withstanding)
That website is wrong. The numbers are reversed for Cooper Convertible and S Coupe. The Coupe is currently $20,400 going up to 20,600. You can check Carprices.com for verification of current pricing.
Let's not forget that Mini stepped the prices up by $500 in January in mid year. So really they've went up $700 for the S base price since the release of the '05. (sneaky they are!)
I'm glad to see prices are higher. It ensures our resale value is out of this world! I bought mine in December 04 just before the price increase, so I stole mine for 19,900 base and out the door with a few options, a couple nice discounts, and even added destination to total 20,939. (where's my dancing banana man when I need him) I could sell the car today for as much as I paid for it. Long live the Mini's resale value!! Woohoo!

Just to be clear - the MCS will retail for $20,600 without destination for the 2006 model year.

English Leather Seats seem empensive...
I love my 2005. I got the Black Leather. In retrospect, 1 of only two things I would have changed. I would have saved the cash on the leather and went with the leatherette and spent the $100 for the facotry rear fog lamp.
The English seats look cool, but if the modding route is your style, you can get a lot of toys...

I for one would be shocked to see a big price increase next year. Do you know anyone who isn't majorly skittish about the '07s?? I don't know anyone around here who wants to rush right out and buy one...most seem to be taking a wait-and-see attitude (...not that they won't be good). A price increase would certainly add to our reserve, imo.
As for '06 prices....not bad. MINIs are still a bargain for what you get. (...especially if you're happy w/ Cooper performance...going ever faster still has it's price)
Another observation from around here: it still is a very special buyer that will get a MINI. Most people seem timid when it comes to buying a car perceived as being on the edge, out of the ordinary, or somewhat unique, that stands out. Most buyers still seem to want to huddle in the boring middle-ground (...draw your own broader cultural conclusions here). You can count on a MINI owner being (generally) a free thinker, an enthusiast (on some level), or one who is somehow irrationally overcome by MINI's charm. That's the view from here anyway....it's a good thing for the semi-exclusivity of the brand, imo.

A/C, side airbags and until recently, the stereo "Boost" CD radio are/were options in Europe and most other markets where the car is sold.
I think the body colored dash didn't prove to be as popular as MINI had hoped, hence from now if you want it you will have to pay for it.
I think that the body color dash is nice as a free upgrade, but not worth $200 in my book.
The USA gets its cars pretty loaded from factory because face it, no one in this country will be interested in a bare bones car. (Unless you are into racing)
