In some post around here relating jet black I think I read someone saying that it is an error to own a black car in hot weather.
Well I have to disagree, i am currently in LA and since I've been here it hasnt rained yet!! (going to the second month around this town).
Most of the times all I get in my car is dust so all I have to do is rinse it with high pressure water, dry it and waxed for the nth time.
For me full black is the way to go.

As much of a pain as it is to keep black clean and swirl free, its just too damn sexy that its worth the effort!
I put some new shoes on this weekend. Here are a couple pix.
I know they arent any really high end wheels or anything but they are the look I was going for. I have another sert for the track

Here in Ocala Florida where today's high was 97...no biggie, love the black!
I hate the finger prints on the door (I don't open my boot that much). I guess i have to be more careful as to how I close the door. I didn't even realize that was what was causing the marks. All makes sense now...

Anybody have a picture of a metallic black MINI?
...
Here's my CB/CB MINI:
There's a few more in my personal gallery. Funny thing is, I likely never would have ordered this color combo! My MINI was a demo. As it turns out, my MA ordered this particular combo (CB/CB w/ chrome exterior, cordoba beige/black interior w/ anthracite trim) because he thought it would look cool in person, and he wanted to check it out!
You may agree or disagree with this, but the general concensus in the used car market in "Sunbelt" states is that black cars are a hard sell because they tend to absorb light/heat in greater quantities than lighter colored vehicles. A black car, no matter how you cut it or slice will be hotter than a car in a lighter color.
Black, dark colored vehicles are deemed more appropiate for colder climates.
If I lived in the Pacific Northwest, my choice would have been Jet Black for sure.
But here in Miami, I can't see myself looking after a black car.

Thanks for posting the pics, Detlman! Your JB/JB MINI is so glossy and shiny! I've been wondering what color-coded spats would look like on an all-black MINI, and your pics have cured me! Something about the color-coded aerokit and spats, the black on the rims, and blacked-out gas cap just doesn't sit right with me in my personal preference.
I think the all blacked-out thing works great with a flat black (sort of like a military vehicle, Mad Max Roadwarrior, rat-ride kind of thing) but doesn't seem to be working in the gloss black.
Maybe the solution would be to finish the aero grill...
same wheels ect. debadged, lowered, aero grill the list goes on forever.
live in fl &work the race curcite.(sebring, daytona, homestead, moroso)
car always draws a crowd. never ever have a problem with heat inside the
car.(smoked windows & sunroof) just my 2cents.

Here's my Wicked Wanda at a mini MINI run with some Panhandle MINIs in Destin, Florida last weekend. Thanks to CruzinChris for the beautiful "bonnet" shot!
my lil Alice was adopted at 10 months and i don't think her previous parent was very good to her she has a few minor little swirls and scratches but nothing that i can't fix (/fingerscrossed).
boot - i do what many do (quick hard pull from inside and push on plate).
bonnet - only opened when i have a polishing cloth handy LOL
handles - i always wear long sleeved shirts that go over my fingers when i open/close the door! hehe actually, depending on how much of a rush i am in i close with fingers on rubber/plastic around bottom of window or with fingertips on side of glass.
Regarding the quotes:
about black cars being hotter, when its hot, its hot no matter what color it is,
and black cars are hard to keep clean, just wash it more often...
Bonnet: two fingers on inside of grille, quick pull down
Drivers door: key hole push
Pass door: two fingers in door cup behind handle push
Boot: inside handles/cups, quick pull down
Man,
I love my JB/JB car!
my method is:
Boot: use the little handles then psuh down on the emblem
Doors: fingertips on the chrome, it cleans easy enough
Bonnet: pull on the underside of the grille till it's at chest level, then let it lower itself to about a foot above the latch, then let it drop
coolest black ever on the Cooper, simple and elegant for lack of a better word
I wish my paint was in better shape. The bonnet is full of paint chips, it needs to be repainted. I have tons of swirls to get out everywhere else. But all my friends agree that Minis are most awesome in black! I just love the way the doors reflect the ground beneath them!
My paint isn't in that great shape! There are a lot of chips and dings in the hood. The Zaino polish takes away a lot of the swirlies but not the chips. A photo from that distance helps! I painted the Lights, side markers and wheels mat black to go with the stripes! And the Halos look awesome at night too!

Yeah, I really want halos too! But what happens to your turn signal with them in?
And if your paint is bad too, then there is hope for mine, because the shine on yours is incredible! It looks like glass!
