I saw link here, to a thread on a Cobra owners' board, discussing onasled's video of himself passing a 427 Cobra at a track day. He mentioned that the MINI actually has a longer wheelbase than a Cobra. Surprised, I was. Looked up on the web, I did. (Sorry - no idea why I'm suddenly channeling Yoda.)

I was at an exotic car dealer last week and saw a Cobra replica on the floor. Standing there looking at it, it was hard to imagine that the MINI had it beat on wheelbase. To my surprise, it isn't just wheelbase:

Wheelbase (in):
427 Cobra - 90"
MINI - 97" (7.8% longer WB)

Track - Front (in):
427 Cobra - 52.5"
MCS - 57.2" (8.9% wider front track)

Track - Rear (in):
427 Cobra - 52.5"
MCS - 57.5" (9.5% wider rear track)

Interesting!

 

The Cobra is indeed a very small car that looks larger than it really is.

 

And the MINI looks smaller than it actually is. :smile:

 

...if only the MINI had 500 horsepower.

 

Damn, I thought it did. I guess I'll have to take it back.
