Notice the passenger compartment has absolutely no intrusion at all. Its as if the force of the impact was dissipated (sp) around it.

BTW my dad was in an accident several years ago. It was a company van vs. a geo metro. He was the geo metro. The van was travelling at 80mph when it rear-ended him and he was travelling 0 (stopped). The truck had all kinds of equipment inside including weilding tanks etc. The force of impact was so severe that the headlamp of the van struck the back of my dad's head. Fortunately, almost all of the energy was dissapated when the van crunched thru the hatch.
My dad is fine now, but can no longer work and is on permanent disability. Don't worry, it's like early retirement for him:smile: Now, if the driver of the other car was in something like a civic or another metro, I think the impact would have been less severe.
My point is that large cars make the road unsafe for the rest of us.
Of course the whole thing could have been avoided if the other driver wasn't drunk

And, of course, due to the sheer size if they do stray off course and/or have to do any emergency moves they are more likely to cause accidents from that as well.
So a car, esp one as maneuverable as a Mini, is much more likely to avoid that head on collision with the Excursion and be much more fun on a real excursion to boot

I know for a fact if I had been driving my F350 4wd pickup truck I would not been able to avoid this guy and the results would not have been pleasant for the Jetta. The front bumper of the truck would have been somewhere in the middle of the passenger side compartment. Might even have rolled him over.
Funny thing was he was po'd at me like it is I who cut him off...
