To All Pki Attendees...
Hey PKI attendees:
Unfortunately it's looking less and less likely that I will be able to make
the whole day event on Saturday. I am going to try to make the Friday meet though. However, I know some of you out of town folks are planning to spend some extra time here. In any case, I thought a list of some destinations around the area might be in order. Let me know if you want better directions to these places (should be easy enough via google though) or want other reco's.
BEST MOTORING AREAS:
Rt. 52 along the river.
A bit out of the way, but a nice drive. Take downtown out to a small town called Ripley. Difficulty: Very Easy
Muchmore Rd in Indian Hill.
Be careful if you go up here at night as deer are common. Some very good twisties, though the locals can get a bit pissed if you get to rowdy. Difficulty: Medium
Devil's Backbone - southwest side.
Off the beaten path, and only about a mile long, but probably the most extreme twisties you may have driven. Difficulty: High
There are also some good roads out east of town in the Williamsburg/Bethel area
NOTABLE SPEED TRAPS:
near exit 8 on 71N:
At least at night there is pretty much always a state trooper sitting there. Also again a couple miles north when you approach exit 10, right before it bumps to 65 mph at Montgomery Rd.
75N near exit 10
75N and 75S north of town near the huge Jesus at the Castle Rock Church.
BEST DINING:
Jeff Ruby's
Every time i eat here its the best meal I've ever had. High end steak like no other and a wine list that needs a table of contents. Kind of pricey but if you want steak that you'll tell stories about, go here.

Carlo & Johnny's
Arguably as good as Jeff Ruby's (and also owned by Jeff Ruby) but out in Montgomery. I prefer the above one but they are both great.

Newport on the Levee, Covington
Great location to catch dinner/movie. Walking distance to Hofbrauhaus too.
Mt. Adam's area district just east of downtown
Best overall bar district in the city, great clientele. There is also a nice little wine bar across from Longworth's although I can't remember the name.

Also, if anyone is interested, there is a Homearama in Mason through the 26. This one has homes b/n 1 and 2 million to walk around in and look through.
There is also an auto-x at the Ford plant in Sharonville. This is a location that is renewed for the Cincy group this year as they haven't been there for several years and I have yet to go to one of the auto-x's there this year so not sure how they set it up. I don't think that some MINI's showing up would be a problem, as long as they are not inundated with MINI's
