The 06 models are supposed to build in the August production. If you read motoringfile you know as much as I do about the changes.

I have the same problem. I will be looking to buy in late august/ early september. Should i go with the 2005 or 2006. I dont care about any color changes, as i will be geting it in ds. What interests me more is the factory instaed recaros and jcw parts. Does anybody have any info on them?

Ah, but you guys are lucky - your weather is practically nice all year round. If I purchase an 06 and receive one in October, I only have a month (perhaps a month and a half) of nice driving - then my MINI will go through a Michigan winter. It being my first ever new car, I have no idea how it will fare!

I think I'll have to go for an 06, though. Space Blue is just so tempting... yeah, it's only a color. But it looks so nice. And it has a cool name.

Minis are becoming so popular around me that it's harder to have a unique one. So, doing a silver roof with a new color is tempting for me. I'll probably change my mind again and there's no telling if I'll actually be able to afford it in 2006, but I'd like to do space blue with a silver top and (crossing fingers) silver stripes. ..or maybe astro black with a silver roof and stripes. ...or hyper blue...

The news about factory installed JCW bits hit me the same way the factory LSD did last year.

Its been confirmed to be pushed back to November production. Good for me cause I definitely want a 2005!

Just out of curiousity, why do you want an '05 over an '06??

IMO, couple of things to consider ... 1) whether you can (and willing to) wait for 6 or more mo. 2) whether you're going to get the new color and/or the new JCW additions.

If you're not going to pick the new color, neither the new JCW bits, and can get the car before July ends, then get the 05, so you can have fun in summer.

Plus, you may feel the time of waiting for the 6 mo. to get your car manufactured, shipped then pick up, as long as your whole life. I waited mine for only two mo. from placing order to pick up, it was already a worse waiting experience I have.

my 2c.

I started to do a bit more research... Is the Space Blue only on the MCS? People keep saying it is going to replace EB, and EB is not offered on the MC.

If you can wait then do it.

Updates
Newer model, more resale value
Maybe put more money down on it
New colors
More time to research options

If you can't wait then go for the 05 and definately get electric blue

Me Three! I'm bummed that the color is being mothballed.

I might have to buy another before it's too late.

don't forget, more time to save up for mods!! as much as it sucks to have to wait till winter to get a new MINI, that just means i'll have a bunch of cash saved for mods come spring time

the road not taken

The current gen offers a fine, extended family of experienced owners.

The '07, - 'the one less traveled by.'

Or perhaps, diverge the wood. Nab an '05 now & change into the next gen in a few years, spreading yourself through MINI's heritage grasses.

I think Space Blue is going to be a closer replacement for JB....very dark (of course this is only speculation on my part). I don't think EB will have a similar replacement which is too bad, imo.

Thats correct for the Space blue its almost a midnight blue. I assume its a replacement for Jet Black. EB will just fade away which is sad.

I don't know - hard to tell from the photos I saw, but it looked more like a smoky blue/silver. . .not overly dark. . .I'm anxious to see one in person.
