MINI As Stress Relief

Brutal day at work ...not coping great...by 2 pm close to a breakdown!

Solution....30 minutes in my MCS, sun-roof open, Chili Peppers loud!!

Back to work...pretty good last 3 hours.

Not the first time this has been discussed. See...
Mini Therapy

But I really believe that this car is one of the best cures for stress ever invented!!

I agree

Plus the beautiful mountains and roads around your area, make it for an extra dosage of stress relief.

What stress?
Just keep on driving and skip the stop for returning to work.
Call it a day.

Can I get a "AMEN!" ?? The White Sox just grabbed a 2-1 lead, it's time for a quick Motoring Break, then back to Late Nite (work) Budgeting - unless of course I get "lost".

Cool thread.

You think your MCS is a stress-relieving miracle cure, you gotta try the cabrio flavor.

MINI as a stress reliever?? Yes definitely! Helps keep things in perspective, helps one enjoy the moment. And to think some people used to say, "it's just a car."

Some people, who (my spouse) shall remain (my spouse) nameless (my spouse) still DO say that!

I'll still keep her (and my spouse, too),

No stress here

Just got back from returning some rented DVD's. Can you believe it took almost an hour?

I am hooked on books on CD and I'll get in my car head to the mountains and listen for 200 mi just to unwind. I have NEVER owned a car with that effect. Stress buster for sure

I agree, the MINI is a great "escape" sometimes, a MINI is the ONLY car that I've had that compares to my other "stress relief vehicle".

My late night commute after work,on a fairly deserted highway, does help with stress, even though I'm focused on the road, watching for deer and other critters.
No other car I've owned has let me feel relaxed, even though the motor home is somewhat intense.

I hear you Lot15, about watching for deer and other critters. Driving the MINI increases my confidence to be able to flip out of the way, but doesn't decrease my ATTENTIVEness, on particular roads 'round here. Some folks I know would swear that the deer are suicidal and wait for the last possible millisecond before leaping out of the woods onto the road .

There is plenty of wildlife to watch out for, being so close to many forest preserves and to the Des Plaines river. So far we have been OK, though recently there was a news story about a man who smashed up a buck, went home to get stuff to clean it up with, and came back to find a local cop swiping the carcass for the antlers! The guy, who happened to be a Scoutmaster for the BSA, returned to the scene to find the carcass still lying there, along with a local cop busily finishing up stuffing the head/antlers in the trunk of his cruiser.

The cop got reprimanded for doing this "on duty" and the Scoutmaster actually put the remainder of the carcass into the bed of his pickup, and deposited it on the front steps of the police station.

Always ready with more than you wanted to know,
Tatt

How did this nice "relaxation" thread turn into a road-kill discussion....

Oh well, if you can't beat 'em...

Absolutely! I keep submitting my purchase invoice to my health care insurance carrier but they keep denying the claim. Go figure.

Your point is well-taken, I didn't mean to hijack. I just got caught up in "stream of consciousness" fashion when talking about MINI maneuverability (sp?) having the effect of increasing my confidence and therefore decreasing stress.

For me, living practically "in the woods", and not having asphalt/concrete as far as the eye can see, is worth the increased critter hazards. Just don't let me catch you talking on your cell phone when you motor thru Tatt Holler.

No matter the locale, driving my MCS makes me feel good all over.

Peace

Had a 2 show day today, with a 3 1/2 hour break between shows. So I took one of the stage managers for a motor on a somewhat twisty road with a 30 MPH limit. It follows a river, and takes about 1/2 an hour one way.Now I usually tend to be a bit spirited when I motor there, but it was her first ride in a MINI,and I did not want to make her nervous,so I just cruised along at the limit. After the hour drive and lunch at the turn around,I felt very rested.

I was pushing scenery around tonight like it weighed nothing

That's a great post Lot15, and I am on the same page. I took it as a testimonial, about the power of enthusiasm and passion (not to mention your enviable relationship with your car)!

All is well here, despite hard work and sleep deprivation required,
Tatt

Lemme guess... the video store was about 4 blocks away?

Mine is, and I have yet to take the direct route.

Almost exactly 4 blocks... if you go the boring, direct route I used pre-MINI. Now, it's a much longer (but more attractive) trip.
