Anyone know of any good PDA mounts for the MINI. I wanna mount my ipaq but the circle vents on the MINI kinda rule out a vent mount, and the toggle switches being so low kinda rule out a cup holder mount, unless there is one that can "pivot: at the base so you can face it away from the toggles. I havent found one though. Anyone have any solutions? I was thinking windshield mount but I heard those suction cups can fall off when you hit a bump, killing your pda.

Have you thought about getting someone to mount a plate under the dash area above the spedometer? it may involve some dismantling of the dash. If you took the top part of the dash off and then secured an L shaped piece of thin alloy to the underside of the dash top that you've removed you should have a flat surface that will present just above the spedometer. You can then mount whatever you like to this without drilling holes in any visible surface of your MINI. Another alternative is to use the existing holes and screws that hold the stereo, air/con units in the centre console. The piece of alloy used her would have to be quite thin if it comes in from the passenger side of the centre console as the golve compartment door opens nearly flush to the center console rail. It can screw in to the rail verticaly and then twist so it presents as a flat surface that can once again mount anything.

I have the same poblem with my phone. It falls out of the cupholders when I have my personal hands free plugged into the bottom of the phone, so where else can you put it? and be able to see it and use it leagally with hands free. I also don't want to pull my mini apart or drill holes to fit a bracket, but I'm thinking about the above ideas that I've mentioned to you.

I noticed in an earlier post that you where pretty unhappy with your MINI. Is everything cool now? I've had my share of minor problems with my MCS but they're are pretty speedy to rectify any concerns I have, and I'm quite padantic about rattles etc, my MCS cost me $45,000 AUS which to me is quite expsenive for what it is, but man it's a fun car and I love it.

Cheers NYIllustrator (Illustrator? are you in advertisng/design?)

Have you looked into the above? From what I understand these should be out soon if not already. (from your dealer or MINI USA)

Hope this helps,

I'm sure you've heard it before, but it's a shame your experience with your MINI has been so negative. I must admit though if I was not so smitten by this car I would also be pretty pissed by now. My dealer is great, they fix things straight away and the don't mess about they just order a new part and replace it. I get a loaner everytime that's usually a nice BMW 3 series which is quite pleasant to drive so I;m not too upset, but yes the problems encounterd with the new MINI I think is unacceptable at this retail level. These problems should have been sorted out in the testing stages. The fact that's it's BMW makes it worse, I expect more from them. If it was a Chrysler or Hyundai then perhaps. But you're paying a premium price for an imported car, it should be better, regardless of how new the design and platform are. Anyway your MINI still looks cool, and you've picked the best colour combo. Red & White - traditional and slick!
