Make Waiting Fun...

The first time that I heard about the MINI Welcome Kits was in the Owner Network at MINI USA. There was a copy of an article written in the NY Times entitled, "What to Expect When You are Expecting a MINI Cooper". According to the article, "The kits include retro 1950s games like Interstate Highway Bingo and a stencil that can be used to spray-paint a "MINI Parking Only" sign in the garage". MINI sending the kits in an effort to help new MINIacs handle the waiting period.

I waited for mine for several weeks before calling MINI USA. I was informed that my MA should have registered me for the kit. Since Chevis never returned any phone calls, I figured it was unlikely that he had submitted my info; thankfully, I have a new MA, Lee Carter, who submitted my name when I asked him to take over my account. I still haven't received the MINI Welcome Kit, but I did receive my MINI!!!

Well, if the Dealer/MA have anything to do with it, that explains why I have not received mine. So far just about everything my MA has said has been a line of BS. I am still waiting for a couple t-shirts that were supposedly free with the car. I am still waiting on my personalized plate...the excuse has been oh, the paperwork was wrong. Oh, it'll be next wekk, come in for an extension to the temporary. Oh, it takes 2 months. Just today, I'm told, oh, it takes 3-4 months, and they were peeved I was actually asking!! I got wrong info about the car as far as equipment, he actually said that Hyper Blue was called Black-Eye Purple out of the US (Purple Haze is)..just a ton of stuff like this. I have no doubt that if something was required by them to get the kit, it was not done. I'll see what MINI-USA says and go from there.

According to Kerri @ MINI USA, when I called today. EVERYONE is supposed to get the Welcome Kit. It is automatic when the dealer registers you as a new owner. Which by law they have to do so that MINI can inform owners of any recalls.

This is only a requirement on new MINIs, not used. (owner reg that is)

When I called to inquire, I was in their database, with the correct VIN number and address. She claims it was a glitch/oversight that my welcome kit was not sent.

Heh, maybe so, but I will wait 7-10 business days before I call Kerri @ MINI back. I can be a very nice PITA.

Well there is hope!

Yeah - a "glitch" - probably a software glitch and their waiting for the update. Haha!

I just go this in response:

Thanks for contacting MINI. Congratulations on your new Cooper S!

I'm sorry to hear you never got your Welcome kit. I submitted a request to send a replacement kit to you, which should take about 2-4 weeks.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Okay - Mine is now on the way. The customer service rep acted like one had been sent. Varified my address, and they are sending another one. Funny, the bill has no problem reaching me each month.

Ask-Mini and ye shall receive (hopefully)!

That's not funny, I'm from Bangladesh. Well, not really, but if I were, it would not be funny.

I wish it were coming from Bangladesh... espcially if it included some products locally grown over there!

That sucks. I got mine like 2 weeks after I got my Mini. Along with a nice Tin of asorted nuts and pecans. I guess that was from the dealer though...

That was from the dealer. A local BMW dealer used to send me a plant after every Beamer I purchased.

We bought ours on consignment with 19K on the clock, not even dealer owned - didn't get a welcome home kit, but we DID get a MINI hat.

We'll see about the kit in a month or so when we order our '06.
