Interesting. Probably not my cup o' tea, but I do have a question: What are the changes in sound? I'll bet you're getting a lot more interesting noises! That's gotta be worth something.

form have to follow function on track, period. and the place of the air outtake on the blue hood is optimal even if this hood cant win a price for design. the other thing is that this hoos is ultra light - also very important on track.

reg rain and water - what you do against the rain what comes from under the car? every part in the engine room is und must be allready waterproof from stock so there are really no serious probs with water - but the mini have temp probs when you race him.

i will get my modified hood in 3 weeks - i take the old style one like on the green mini - love it a lot from design and its also functional and will help to put the temps down. other kompressorcars have air outtakes from stock:

It's interesting. I'd kinda like a picture of one sitting next to an EVO.

but for race purposes like this the stock hood would be terrible for getting rid of heat.....this hood wasnt added for looks, its added for function...

function over form when it comes to racing

Functional isn't always pretty I guess...but I'm sure they weren't going for looks on this one

For some reason, the hood looks better at that angle...weird.

The arrow....required in nearly all major race classes....look at all the JCW cars they even tell you what it is with a nice "TOW"

I think my concern is that the exhausted hot air would be sucked into the cowl vents and either sucked into the engine intake or the cabin ventilation system. Neither option are pleasant to think about.
People with Alta style CAI would be sucking in hot air because of the cowl vent modification.

Hmmm, I suppose that could be possible but before I made that assumption I would want to see more flow data. Too bad Schafer probably doesn't have easy access to a wind tunnel ... maybe they'd let me put a smoke bomb under their bonnet so we could drive around the Ring and see where the air is actually flowing

Looks good. Be sure to post some more daytime pics when you get the chance. It's too bad you beat me to the old race car's hood ... they would have even had to repaint it for me

Be sure and post some pics of those new brakes too

Im buying it

You know to each there own. I just bought a 2005 liquid yellow MCS and live in Germany and after seeing there 2006 production hood, front bumper cover, and side skirts I decided to go with it instead of the normal aero kit or Orciari Body Kit. As I am only stationed in Germany until early 2007 then when my mini cooper hits the shores of the USA it will be a one of a kind not just another mini with the same old mods. Plus if you take the time to look at the cone on the car yes it does have functional slim fans that suck and blow the heat out of the engine bay. So functional yes it is. I plan on having it painted and installed by the BMW mini dealer in late December and will post pics as soon as I do.
