Very sorry to hear this....it IS a complete bummer when you are violated like this. Not knowing who it is, etc. etc. If moving is an option, then maybe that is best for you? That may not solve things either. There are creeps everywhere I'm afraid!!! I hope you don't sell your MINI..

It's affordable and just might be enough to make them think twice.
This is a good suggestion! Great deterrence technique, bluezone, and something that Elkerster should seriously consider, as should many of us!

Some options:
Theft deterents include-
Car alarm that signals you
Inexpensive car cover with lock
Steering wheel or brake pedal lock
Starter or fuel cut off switch
Paying for an enclosed garage or parking with security

Some ideas-
Do you have wheel locks? If not get some. Just in case.
If you don't want someone taking your car for a joyride then pull out (and remove) one spark plug wire before you go in for the night.
Got a pet python? Let him stand guard.

Don't sell your MINI, just make it unattractive to thieves.

Although I know your just trying to help, please don't make me feel worse then I already do. I normally brnig everything in. Like I said I know I screwed up the first night, but that's done and I can't change, but when they attempted the second time, there was nothing in my car so now I have a bigger problem to worry about that isn't as easy and just bringing things inside with me. I mean if I could put my mini in my pocket when I go inside I would.

Hey all,
First off I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and thoughts! Let's not dwell on what I could've done the first time, I know what I did wrong but I really can't change that now just have to prevent that for the future. Also going to answer a few questions or thoughts here. As far as getting a different car, yes I think the chances are less of getting broken into as right now I have the nicest car in this lot and it's a target... so if I had something that blended in more I think my chances would be better. The first jerks who broke in do have my wallet and there for have the wallet key, but I don't think it's the same people not sure. Money is a deffinately issue right now as the first morons cleaned out my bank accounts(using it as debit) and credit cards. Once the money is restored which they said could be as long as two weeks, I plan on dropping loads of money on the mini as long as it's still here then.
A friend of my back home had a thought I figured to run by you guys see what you all thought. Given I live in the area off the highest auto thefts in the country. Yup Phoenix is #1! Yikes. Anyway he suggested getting a cheap obnoxious noise maker (alarm) and getting lojack.. any thoughts on that?
I liked a lot of ideas you all had by two things still bother me, one alarms are easy to get around a friend of my out here had a jeep, thursday morning his alarm went off, he looked out saw nothing. Then friday morning his car was gone. So the crooks just came back prepared is all.
Car cover is a great idea but I also worry that that will really make my car stick out, cause now they'l just wonder what's under there given everything else in this lot is older vw's and civics, jeeps and stuff. Last night my neighbor and I both moved our cars where there are more visible from our apartments, tonight I think I'll move the mini back to it's spot right next to my kitchen window and set up the camera. Again KITT and I thank you for all the support!

Sounds like a good plan to me! So sorry for the horrible inconvenience and major nerve-rattling you've suffered.

I've live in an apartment, too...have for a long time. I do have a MINI alarm and always park where I can see my car. I've avoided a car cover for the same reason you've mentioned. Skipped lojack for yet another reason (I'll pm you on this).

I expect these punks will leave you alone. They've done their damage and hopefully will move on. They know you (and others) are being extremely watchful now.

You know what, I've made the same mistake as you. It is such a terrible feeling of violation when a break-in happens...I certainly empathize. I hope you have some luck catching the jerks on film.

Personally, I would do what ever it takes to get a place with a garage. the money spend to do everything to protect it sitting out in the open, would be a large chunk towards a new place to live WITH a garage.
