Top speeds? (Allegedly!)

What top speed has everyone reached in their MC or MCS?

A nice flat stretch of hwy 285 here in CO. allowed me to get 135. Tach was about 500 rpms below redline. She was humming nicely. Smooth, too.

Let's hear those alleged numbers!!!!

I was alone so it was nice and quiet! Apparently the limit is higher than 135, I thought I would have hit it sooner, and I didn't want to press it more, because I had about 2000 mi on the engine at the time. Could my speedo have been off becuase of my wheels? I have the stock 7 holes and stock all seasons, but I saw a table the other day that shows the different reading with different OEM wheels setups. Mine could be reading high, especially at higher speeds.

Why close speed thread?

I have a question. I get my MINI next week, and in 2 months I take it to Summit Point for their friday at the Track where you get instruction and get to drive at speed. I do not know if Summit Point has a long enough straight to hit my speed limiter but I was interested in whether the MINI can go faster then it's limited speed, and if so how much. (and the difference with pulley's and other mods). There are plently of MINI owners who take their cars to tracks where they can run them at speed safely and legally, so I do not understand why discussion of this would not be allowed.
