Differences between Xenons ?

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my baby. Meanwhile, I entertain myself by closely examining every Mini that I come across. And I'm very confused about headlights !

I've seen several configurations. Two in particular have me curious. Both appeared to be xenons (they had the little cutout on the side for the washer). The lamps on one looked unremarkable. But the other had a really strange-looking circular arrangement of small bulbs in one of the lamp regions. I've heard that there are differences between the 2004 and the 2005 xenons. Is that what I'm looking at? If so, which one is the 2005 (which I will have on my car).

Thanks for your help!

2005 has a xenon bulb surrounded by a bunch of smaller, marble looking circles.

the others look simmilar to the older mini headlights

the 2005 xenons look like rocket launchers on a Gunship.

It is to my understanding they are "projector" xenons, while the '04- are not.

It is my understanding that the xenon projector is surrounded by white LED's, so as to add some diffused light between the sharp cutoff of light and the darkness that projector beams produce.

Nope, the little lights are semi clear plastic that the main beam lights up.
