Almost all the production dates are Friday's. This is the date your car comes off the production line. I have not seen very many with days other than Friday's. Look at JAN Club and FEB Club. 1/10, 1/17 production dates.
When did you guys/gals place your order for your Mini's? Has the wait been shorter than you were told by the dealership?

I placed my order on 12/16/2002 around 5pm. My dealer had 6 S models prior to my order and they were concerned that their alotment of S models might only be 2 or 3 and that they would find out at the end of December. I was called on 12/29 and told that my car had been ordered with the December allotment. I then signed in with the owner's lounge it was a couple of days before there was any information other than my order number. Yesterday on my birthday I logged on and saw the estimated production date of 2/7/2003.
I would guess that this all depends on the dealers allotment and the amount of orders that a dealer has prior to yours. The only thing to be concerned about, but not sure what you could do about it, would be if a dealer is bidding the time of the order placement. IE lets say I am a dealer and I have orders from customers for 50 S models, and only an allottment of 10. It would be sad but predictable in this case for the dealer to say oh for a couple of grand I can speed up the process. I don't know if it happens, but that would be sad. I think this is why some of the creative people are buying cars out of state, not that any dealers are doing the unethical thing I mentioned above, but because of the 10 car allotment with a 50 car waiting list. I am lucky to be here in the midwest apparantly. I could very easily get the car in 3 months from order to delivery. Which is about as optimal as you can get.

We placed our order on September 9th, so our dealer obviously had a longer waiting list then their monthly allotment.
Waiting your turn was like being in limbo, you have little idea of when or if ever you will move up to the next step. Now that we have a production number the progress is predictable and we can let the excitement build. OH BOY!!!!!
