I mean seriously, can the police/law claim that you were "endangering" other motorist lives by exceding 100mph, or do you have to actually get in a wreck with someone?

Haha, Im not preparing for this or anything. Believe it or not I have zero tickets, I just like to keep my if/and/but police laws correct.

I generally do not go over 5 mph above the speed limit. I was coming up on a semi and no where to go except into the left lane where I had to accelerate fast to avoid getting rear ended by Mario Andretti. I accelerated, got to the cab of the semi looked down and said, oh crap 101, I'm slowing down now, got into the other lane and set the cruise control to 66mph for the rest of the way to the exit. Conditions were perfect, traveling east close to sunset, roads were dry, everything was fine. I just went way too fast and should have just passed when I was comfortable. But i didn't, I made a mistake, just like every human being makes.
I think everyone here can relate to that. And everyone was the same age as you at one time. I'm not that much older than you and I can't tell you how many times I have been in that exact situatuon. I remember when My mom got her pontiac grand prix gtp supercharged and I was doing over 100 to pass an 18 wheeler a few times. That was the only time I would really speed but they really scare me so I wanna get around them as safe and fast as I can. LOL It always reminds me of Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation. The funny part is that it could accually happen with the mini. LOL

I'm kinda doing some backward braggin' here, but you couldn't do that by surprise in a Cooper. The only way to pass that quickly would be to intentionally drop it from 5th to 4th. That kind of speed (more or less) has to be intentionally accessed, which is one of the things I really like about Cooper motoring.

Back in the 60's when I was in the service I used to make it from Madison WI to Washington D.C. in about 11 hours and 45 minutes. If you do the math I reckon I was speeding just a tad. Not that I condone such a thing but heck, I was young! Come to think, some of that was on the Indiana Turnpike!
