R50/53 Horrible Squealing Noise
I was out motoring yesterday looking at houses for sale and my MCS started making a horrible sqealing sound. It was definitely movement related because when I stopped to look underneath the noise stopped. It happened for a few minutes and then went away. The only thing I can think of is that a cinder, that they use for traction on the roads instead of sand, got caught in a brake or something. I had a friend that happened to and when they took it in to have a mechanic look at it they found a big cinder stuck between the calipers and the disk. Has anyone else had a nasty noise like this?? It scared the hell out of me, but unless it comes back I'm going to ignore it since the dealer is 150 miles away.
Being as I used to live in Bend I can almost 100% assuredly tell you that it was cinder dust/bits in your brakes/hub. I'd give it a good pressure spray down there. Might even jack it up and spray with the wheel off for extra relief. Nothing to worry about unless it scratched up your rotor and did damage...but most likely not. Worth having the dealer check on your next oil change or whatever brings you in. Rasmussen would look at for free, as long as you were in for something else.

Thanks for the tip!! I was pretty sure that that was what it was, but I'd never had it happen in any other car before. I just about scared the crap out of me!! I'll have the guys at Rasmussen take a look the next time I'm up that way!
