Slowly going insane...

Hi,

As some of you might remember, I was considering buying an MCS to replace my Mercedes C230 Kompressor... And finally caved in February 21st.

I never thought the waiting would get so agonizing, I’m down to tracking the ship (the FALSTAFF) which is now about 450 Miles of the coast of Halifax, Canada. It is scheduled to arrive at port tomorrow late at night and then leave for Montreal (where I live) on Friday.

When I bought this care in February, it was more of a "I don’t know what to buy and this looks kinda cool" thing . Now it’s more of a "I AM LOOSING IT, TRACKING A LARGE SHIP OFF THE COAST OF EASTERN CANADA" thing .

Anyways, I just wanted to share with everyone my complete and absolute obsession with this car.

In theory, I should be getting it late next week...

Sorry for the useless post, it had to come out.

This is a place were people will understand. The wait will drive you crazy. Good luck. Let us know when you get your MINI and how it went.

yeah, that's part of the 'owner' break-in period

... the agonizing wait makes the car all the more special on the day you finally take delivery when my MCS was due at the dealer I actually drove by the dealership 3 times a day looking for the transport carrier

you are not alone!

It is part of the BMW/Mini customer delivery acceptance program.

This way are new owner will take the car, no matter what is wrong with it!

Knock on wood, I am just joking - think good thoughts - nothing will be wrong.

No really, I thought the wait would be no problem, as I have a car to drive. But since the time I ordered, each day is long and I find many things to remind me that I don't have my car. I just want to sit in it, drive it, wash it, mod it - you get the picture.

I know why, it was that darn test drive, the car was just too much fun!

Darn it, where is my car - I am off the Owner Lounge to check its status. See what you started!

Be sure and post pictures when yours arrives. Cheers.

I know your pain and remember when I was insane too. Now I am sane. Now I drive my Winston as much as the Doctors will let me. Mostly on Sundays when I get out of the Hospital. But only in the driveway. I'm a good driver in the driveway.

OOps - time for my Meds NUrse is coming!!

Don't feel too bad - I tracked my Winston's cargo ship all the way across the pond as well - My wife thought I had completely lost it. Now she knows I've lost it... But she accepts my disability... so it's OK. I mean, I tell her I could have ended up being into baseball or quilting or orchids or hunting or something. So I think she realizes it could have been worse (sorry, if any of you out there are into any of those things - no disrespect! )

Enjoy the insanity

- - Michael

I feel your pain.

Fortunatly, I was lucky enough to find mine on the show room floor. Had to get a few people out of it first, but their will was no match for my desire.

I did not order my MINI.But thought I would. My MINI was sitting on the dealer lot, just what I wanted, when I walked in,ready to order.
It had 15 kilometers on it,some of the protective plastic stuff was still on it.
They did not want me to test drive it because it had not been completly prepped.I insisted,I knew it had not been test driven from the odo.and I wanted that car. They let me go with it,I told them I would be gone awhile,as I needed to take the car on part of my commute route, and just check out the car.I got back to the dealer with 100 kilometers on the car,did the paper work.I picked it up the next day.
I can't imagine waiting weeks,let alone months.
24 hours was hard enough

Ditto! My wife just finished a scrap book of our MINI which includes pictures of the ship it was on, pictures of the configurator on Mini's website, receipts of all the mods we purchased even before we got the car, and tons of photos of the car the day we picked it up. Oh... but the freaking out doesn't end when you get the car. It is just starting my friend. Wait until you see a puddle on the street and you try to find another route just so you won't get your MINI dirty. Yes.... it gets that crazy. Or having a massive, blowout, knockdown fight with the wife as to whom gets to drive it today. How about wanting to lift the bonnet to WAX the engine so it matches the luster of the rest of the car (twice!). Or stopping on the highway to take a picture of the odometer because it reads 1000 miles. You love your Brittish car so much, you start to say "bonnet" and "boot" and "cheers" and your family members think you are going insane. You will have a habbit of taking off your wheels so you can clean them on the inside because you can't quite reach every spot with your rag. You spend your second home on the web searching for the next greatest thing you can add to your MINI because it makes you feel normal. You will find yourself slowing down when you see someone looking at your car from the side of the road, just so they can take a better look at it. You pull up to the pump and put $40.00 of super unleaded in your tank AND LIKE IT! And finally, you spend all your spare time (besides waxing the car) here on this forum because the NAM members have become your second family.

Good luck to you.....

Scott.

I bought "Max", my '05 MCS, already built and ready for the boat at Southampton, so my total wait was only 6 weeks.

Max was delayed three weeks in Halifax when all the cars at the autoport were buried under 4 feet of snow! Presumably, that issue has been resolved! (but note: it snowed in Calgary today!).

Finally the agony of waiting is over (as of last Thursday!), and I can assure you that soon you will once again sleep soundly and not be waking up at 2 am fretting over details of Mini delivery, Mini accessories, Mini mods, etc.

Lot's of Mini folks in the Montreal area (or so I hear). Have fun!

All of us on this board are right there with you! I often feel like we all should stand up individually, say our names and admit our excessive compulsive MINI disorders.

I got lucky with my first MINI, exactly what I wanted right on the lot. Second MINI, not so good luck. If NYK Line had better ship tracking, I'd be right there GPSing that thing every few minutes, even making some sort of program that pages me (I'm a programmer) every major milestone.

Hang in there, you can make it a few more days!!!!

i agree with goatherder - the insanity is just beginning! wait until you can't wait to get up in the morning so you can drive your mini - even if it's just a couple of miles (to work ) and you can't stand it when there's one spec of dirt or dust on your mini! At least you've found a whole group of us - just like you! I was actually planning on ordering my mini but I thought I might want to test drive (just in case I didn't like the way it drove - yeah right) and couldn't think of anything else all day - so i called the dealership later that afternoon and said no matter what - that car was coming home with me! Sorry you have to wait! Can't wait to see pictures of your new obsession - please post!

My four month wait ends in three hours.

Actually, I think this wait has been part of the fun. Everyone who thought I was crazy, now knows for sure.

Goatherder, love the scrap book idea! Taking obsession to the next level!
