Took delivery November around 3900 miles already no problems so far...knock on wood. Only incident so far was when I was taking my friend's ex girlfriend home(they broke up, but we are still friends) she drank a little too much and decided to spray a little puke, too bad they don't have interior wipers it was kinda like a scene from Aliens, anyways thank (insert favorite deity) for scotch guard!

Jet black MINI Cooper, white top, white 16's 5 star design, premium and sport packages, red tartan interior.

Any one else from L.A. go to the Giant New Years Eve party in downtown?

Overall satisfaction with your Mini: 15 on a scale of 1-10.

I did not have serious idle or RPM problems with my Cooper but had the 3.2 software update done on the recommendation of the dealer. I notice better starts and idle speeds -- no downside. No charges by the dealer to have 3.2 installed or to have Vehicle Memory settings made.

The San Francisco dealer has very low ratings on MCO but I have nothing but great things to say about the sales and service experience in SF, so far. The dealer is even working with me so I can change the engine oil before ~10k and has offered to sell and install the aftermarket Moss skidplate.

My only complaint is that I don't have enough opportunities to drive this car. My warranty will expire by the calendar, not the odometer.

year -2002
month august 2002, picked it up on sept 23rd 2002
in 3 short months ive put 3600 miles on it
problems.... when i picked up the car from the dealer there were small dents on the hood and a couple of scratches, dents were fixed- no problem but scratches for some reason "can't." problem with bmw and getting the extra key with security system. cvt recall. pump to raise and lower seat didnt work on drivers side (fixed no prob). someone scratched drivers side door, which dealer tried to fix, didnt really but i appreciated the help. once stopped at a red light and when it turned green car wouldn't budge. engine sometimes makes weird noises when first turned on.
dispite all of this i do love my car... and right now its not giving me any problems. the thing i love most about it is the breaks.. i've never driven a car that stopped so well, especially when you have to stop suddenly...

Engine stumble....fixed with upgrade although there is a more current one available...next dealer trip to fix........

Rattling rear hatch......fixed once at dealer......restarted........used duct tape on D-ring to stop rattle...worked..........difficult to open latch though at times, depending on tape...plastic sleeve fix would work.........will advise mini during next dealer call

rattle seal belt mechanism next to driver's head......went away.......

coolant was unnormally low, dealer topped up, ok now, brownish....no leaks spotted.....will have dealer check......

2 for 4 on bugs being fixed.........although engine stumble to be tested with ac on in hot weather and suspect an issue.....to return....

everything else is okay.......car basically good at 8 k miles.....PS mileage not as advertised....26.7 all conditions.........thought it would be 30 overall........like high revs though..............ciao, Andrew B.

2003 MCS
Oct build, picked up Nov 26.
about 4500 miles

So far only minor problem with hatch not opening, but it's been fine for a while (my car HAS the emergency hatch release, no immediate issue)

Coolant is also turning brown, will have it flushed at 10k service.

minor squeak from dash when it's cold, but whatever.

other than that, no problems at all, just pure FUN!

Sadie is a 2002 Chili Red/White MC, delivered to Hawaii July 1, 2002.
She's got just under 2000 miles (This is a SMALL island!).
Only problem was glue on gearshift leather came loose. Repaired by dealer.
I adore this car. I've never had a first year car and with only about 75 of them in the sate, it's pretty special and people just grin when they see her out motoring.
Sadie is a flirt and attracts men wherever she goes.
She was launched with champagne and crab.
This car is more fun to own and drive than any I've ever had.

I love my mini, but i have had one nagging problem. I keep getting blue and red lights in the rear view mirror along with this funny looking guy w/ knee high black boots, dark blue baggy pants and black/ white openface helmet that appears at the drivers window with this funny looking yellow sheet of paper. Do all mini's come with this undocumented "feature"?

Now. come to think of it, my original '62 cooper seemed to have this same feature!

No problems to date to speak of - currently 2700 miles. I needed to read the manual about the resetting flat tire light when I installed new 17" wheels.

Ditto here at nearly 2,000 miles. The Cooper starts and runs great and no squeaks or rattles detected, not even from the sunroof.

Hey there,
Talk about identical cars, my Mini is just like yours. Indi Blue with white top. I did get the glass sunroof. I also bought mine on Sept. 21st!! I'm not sure about the build date, but I believe it was in July. I've had zero problems, not one. The car is a dream and it literally stops traffic, work, etc, where ever I go. 3,100 Miles.

Thanks, Jim

There was so much going around about the squeaks and rattles that for the enitre first three weeks I drove the car I rarely turned any music on in my mini and listened everyday instead (like an idiot) for the rattles and squeaks...1800 miles later...no rattles...no squeaks...nothing...the car is fine (knock on wood.)

Vehicles year: 2003 BGR S, Premium, Sport (17" Perfs)
Assembly month: 09/02, Delivery 10/02
Mileage: 4500mi
Problems (if any):

Currently scheduled for service. Oil Pressure dummy comes on after long drives as I get stuck in slow traffic back into the city. Flickers sporadically in 1st & 2nd gear. Had 0.5qt top off at dealer (they said I would burn a quart by the 10K service), but this didn't alleviate the problem. I will report back after the service call (I was told, tentatively, that they sensor is a Bimmer part with problems in other models, but as of yet hasn't cropped up in MINIs).

Boot didn't latch once recently, but I wasn't closing it, and I notice that some people inadvertently grasp the latch when closing (it is the logical place if you are trying to not slam it closed), thus opening it.

Coolant change: haven't looked too closely. I think I am at some indeterminate grey state.

Overall: I love the car. I still smile when I get in it. I am moving soon to a place where just going for a drive is much more possible, and am looking forward to that very much. I haven't regretted for second wanting or having it.

The dummy light is a little stressful (watching it come on in 4 lanes of standstill traffic a mile from the Lincoln Tunnel, and all the manual says it to turn the engine off immediately), but I have taken the zen approach that it's their problem, and they can fix it. I also put it in a garage this month, making the mania of needing to park daily and worry about inciidental dings less.

2003 MC
October 21, production date
November 16, delivery date
2500 miles

Problems:
1. Defective instrument cluster that made it impossible to program memory options. The part is in, to be installed January 8.

2. The trim cover on the driver's side wiper arm disappeared during a "motoring in a snowstorm" on Christmas Eve.

3. At the rate I'm putting on miles at the end of my lease it will be cheaper to pay the ballon payment and complete the purchase than what I may owe for excess mileage. And I walk the 150 feet to work everyday!!

4. Motoring in a MINI is addicting, I'm having way too much fun.

2002 MCS --Only option, 17in. runflats
6000 Miles
Picked up 7/14/02
Built ????? --Never gave a rats patuti to check I guess?
Way too much fun motoring !
Still haven't read owners manual. (unlike many of the other new cars I've bought)
NO ! breakin & I've driven it like an idiot from day 1.
I fixed boot rattle with tape. Dealer fixed cold start problem in 10 min.
Squeeky seat fixed its self?
Only complaint is harsh ride ---Guess thats the price you pay for fun.
After previously owning 11 classic Minis these little glitches are nothing.
Absolutely the most fun car ever owned of 97.
No, I'm not some rich dude----Only addicted to cars (mostly Minis) and always broke.
