Does anyone know the wheel dimensions for the 17 inch wheels? I am thinking of replacing them, but I need to know how wide they are to see if the wheels I am considering can comply with the run-flat tires. Thanks!

According to the '02 Cooper/Cooper S book they are 7" wide.

The offset is 48mm for the stock 16s & 17s.
