IF YOU LOOK IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BOOT YOU WILL SEE 2 WIRES WITH PLASTIC CONNECTORS, THESE CAN BE PLUGGED IN TO AN ADAPTER THEN STRAIGHT INTO THE CD PLAYER.THEY COST $50-75.00

I also noticed these wires behind the panel on the right side of the boot. I was wondering, do you know where to buy a harness or adapter to fit an aftermarket cd changer?

Crutchfield sells a changer that will work with BMW (Mini uses the BMW changer), but only if you don't have the NAV.

Or you can go on Ebay and buy a changer off someone's BMW.

I thought about the Crutchfield BMW changer, but when I called crutchfield they didn't know wheter or not it would work in my MINI...I didn't want to take a chance without knowing for sure

This has been talked about quite a bit in the audio forum... I think the thread is something along the lines of "I-Pod usage in MINI", or something like that...

I saw a Mini on the showroom with a BMW changer installed. Maybe you should call your local dealership and find the part number for that stock BMW changer. See if that's the same one that is on other BMW cars and then you can check with Crutchfield if that is compatable.

I would much rather spend $300 for changer that will do the same thing as an OEM changer will do for $600+ that the dealership is charging.

I just stopped by Car Toys to see if they had a CD player that would work in the Mini. We tried plugging in a BMW 3 series adapter and a Pioneer Pemier 12 CD changer. All of the controls worked. I don't know about steering wheel contols - don't have it.

Prices:
Pioneer Premier 6 CD changer plus adapter and install: $382
Pioneer Premier 12 CD changer plus adapter and install: $423

Anybody know about other systems?

All the Mini ´´S´´ it have the two wires inside the car at the right rear inner cover, just bellow the carpet, over there it connects directly to the disk changer and the factory Radio/CD it handle everything.

The cost for the changer over here it is 449.00 if it have the BMW logo, but with out the logo the very same product with the Mini part number on the box 349.00, I bought the one without the logo, it came with the base to keep the cd changer on the side, bolts and nuts, it takes me only 10 minutes to install.

It is my undertanding that the non ´´S´´ Minis, it needs to wire it up to the rear of the car, I hear it from a friend who own a non ´´S´´ and put the same cd/changer on his car.
