I agree with you on that, -esp as the metallic paint seems to really bring out the contours (with the chili red before it was not as noticable as the hyper).

I chose not to go with the factory stripes that came with the sport package just because I though it best to get the new paint in an untouched state. I thought I'd order some custom ones to put on after a bit but as I've had the car I also find that I like to see the complexity of the bonnet curves with the highlights unobstructed.

To each his/her own though of course, I always enjoy seeing a striped mini on the road, looks very sporty to be sure

Is any vendor planning to sell/install stripes at the Dragon?

I'm interested in seeing what is available and possibly purchasing and having installation, if this is available.

If you can't decide, just put one stripe on

Found a few more pictures

Here are a few more pictures I found. The white doesn't look too bad (but then again, the mirror covers and aero kit make it look "mean".

I like the stripes... They really help give the Mini some distinction.

Alot of colors I think look ugly but when you add the stripes, either black or white, they suddenly look much better.

And yes, you can add/remove stripes at any time including removing factory stripes... My dealer was on the phone telling someone they can remove them.

I would recommend getting some from AesthetiCreations and putting them on yourself. It isn't hard and his stripes are great quality. Full instuctions are included. I got boot stripes and they went on great.

Decal Stripes Are Cheesy!

Vinyl decal stripes are cheesy. Find a good auto paint shop and have the stripes painted on. Otherwise, the vinyly stripes will crack and peel as they always do.

We bought our Mini off the lot and it didn't have stripes on it. I'm still awaiting my brother to make us some stripes (he has a sticker shop) Now that we've had out MCSc for 3 months I like how it looks but if we were to stripe we would go black with the white thin stripes. Not sure on the exact stripe design yet, but since my brother is doing it I figured if it doesn't look good we could always remmove the vinyl and do something else!

I have yet to see a cracked vinyl stripe.

If it looks like a sticker...

In four years of baking in the sun, the edges of the vinyl stripe will lift up, crack, and even car wax will start to lift the decal up. Honda uses decal stripes, and my first car, a Civic had peeling stripes after three years.

I insisted on hand painted stripes on my last Acura, and eventually even the painted stripes wore off. I also wouldn't want the paint under the decal to be unfaded and not match the rest of the car. There's this old italian painter dude who hand paints stripes in my area. I should track him down. He custom blends stripe colors.

It's true that the vinyl stripes don't last forever, but that just means you can change designs every year or two.

I think I'm going with viper styles stripes next time!

It may not be a significant factor, but stripes may negatively impact resale of your MINI. Some folks don't desire stripes and won't consider purchasing a MINI with them.

If your MINI doesn' t have stripes, you may enjoy a wider market for resale.

It's relatively easy to put stripes on, but not to remove them.

I went with magnetic stripes. When I want stripes, I have them. When I don' want them they are gone. Don't leave them on for weeks at a time and don't let dirt get under them. When get my Indi Blue/White MC all cleaned up, I put on the stripes. When it looks like the weather is going to get nasty, I take them off.

Have you had any problems with "ghosting" of the clearcoat?

Magnets have a nasty tendency to damage the clearcoat right beneath them.
