I secured mine with $500 to Motor City Mini in Detroit, Michigan. I believe enough time has passed from the initial launch to probably secure one with less.

Flow MINI in Winston-Salem, NC asked me for $500. And I gave it to them...

Just remember when you go to pick up the car that you put down that deposit. I actually had to write a second check becuase that had been overlooked initially...

My dealer, Crevier in SoCal, charged my $1,000. And, I was just there Friday, and they are still charging $1,000, but only when you order. You don't have to put down a deposit if you buy a pre-spec'd one off of the lot...well, unless you trade in an aztek!

Long Beach MINI in SoCal does not take any deposit!!! If you don't accept your MINI, someone else will! I kept trying to throw $$$ at them all through the process, but Tony Lage, my motoring advisor, advised me to collect the interest on my dough! Pretty cool, huh?

Welcome tunerjetta29! Where are you located?

Cheers!

Irvine MINI asked for a $1000 deposit. I was going to use Long Beach MINI, but I was too impatient to wait before I could place an actual order so I took the mark up along with a deposit and went with Irvine.

When i put my money down they said "you have to put down a $500 deposit to order" then my fiance said, "ok $500 though? <using her female powers>" and then the dealer said "ok maybe we can settle for like $250".

This was at Motor City Mini, too bad we had to cancel the order, hopefully within 6 months i'll place the new order, anyways, they keep making new things, ie, new pedals, steering wheels, they added black as a MCS color!

Aloha! MINI of Hawaii only requires $500 for both the MC and MCS ...all at msrp. Just saw an all black, pre spec'd, basic MCS with no options for $19,925 on the back lot...very tempting, but I'll wait for MINIhune. SHAKA!

As of 10/19/02 @ Motorwerks MINI in Mpls - $1,000,000.00 down (less the $999,000.00 instant rebate). I think that ended up to be roughly a grand.
