I have the anthracite headline and dash and love it. I never waivered on ordering it because I like a dark interior and it also looks good with the color of my car: silver with black top. ski

I just got my Jet Black MCS with all Anthracite interior and IT ROCKS MY FACE OFF!

I feel that the black headliner makes the interior more sporty and consistant. I think it it almost a must have if you have black interior.

I can post pics later if anyone is interested.

The dealership had several different combos of MINI interiors (obviously!) and we saw a black/black MCS with red Viper style stripes flowing out of the red scoop (nice look) but the interior on this car was stunning - it had the black/red cloth seats, anthracite trim, anthracite headliner, and the chrome interior package. Spectacular. MUCH richer looking than our black/lapis blue with light headliner on our '04. Not that the '04 looks bad, mind you, but the darker package with the red seats, well, ZING!!

So it looks like our new MCS is going to be CR/B with the above mentioned dark yet shiny interior. Still 6-7 months out, but we're 99.9% certain this is the winner. Will post pics when it arrives.

Thanks to everyone for their inputs, pics, etc.

Bill -

Told ya you'ld love it!

Great to here your comments on the interior. It is exactly what I ordered. I have not seen this combo live, but was sure it would be a good combination. I also added the red shift **** to add a finishing touch. I'll find out how it looks on Friday 4/29. Thats when I pick her up. It is gonna be a long week!

That my car for the most part. I also have the chrome line interior package and anthracite headliner. Let me know if additional pictures will be helpful!

Oley,

I saw it live the first time on Sunday, peering through the tinted windows of a locked car, but I fell in love with it. I'm sure you'll be amazed when you see yours. Wish OURS was coming in on Friday!!

Enjoy, and post pics.

Wow, that anthracite looks so nice that it makes me wish they'd gone all the way and included the speaker rings, steering wheel spokes, etc. Maybe then the $200 price tag wouldn't be so offensive.

I just went to the dealer yesterday to take a look at an anthracite headliner...really wished I would have gotten one BUT, there is a guy in town who comes highly recommended, who says he could dye the headliner and plastics and match it perfectly. I'll keep this thread posted...

I think that is the only change I would concider on my MINI. I really does't seem that much darker but it really makes the interior flow if you have the darker colour seats and dash.

$200 for a change in color to headliner? Absurd. We ordered our '05 (no sunroof) with stock color and it keeps the interior lighter and larger appearing. Also A-pillers are less noticible when looking out. I'll save my money for autocross wheels and tires, thanks.

Haha! Good eye!

I guess I am like you, I always look to see what kind of interesting stuff can been seen in the background. You can also see my laptop near the tool box, I was looking up gbmini.com to figure out how to install my mini circuit with garage door opener. What a great little mod, Ian is one clever guy.

Again, I think eventually we will see that the anthracite headlinert becomes more and more rare as new buyers think it is crazy to pay the 200 bucks. This will only happen if they keep it as an option, if there is no charge then it will loose the exclusivity. Many I will be able to get an extra 200 bucks when I sell it! (prolly not )

Post the spec of your MINI so we can see what useless option you might have paid for? Is it by any chance a metallic color????

Lucky for you the lighter interior & A-pillars appeals to you. If not, you'd be faced with a tougher decision. Would you pay $200 then?

I wouldn't. No dyed headliner is worth $200 for me. I like the looks of the Anthracite headliner but I refuse to pay extra for it. At the beginning of the 2005 model year, the anthacite headliner was a no cost option, then MINI took it out from the options menu and then others volunteered to pay extra for it if MINI brought it back. No brainer for them.

If I can get black leatherette seats or Grey/Black leatherette seats at no extra charge, why then should I pay extra for a piece of cardboard or foam dyed in a darker color?

As a no cost option, the anthracite headliner is a terrific choice, but for $200, I think money is better spent elsewhere.

MINI is about choices so that's what makes the cars so special in the eyes of their owners. For me, I love my lighter color stock headliner. I just don't like all black car interiors from carpet to roof.

I was one of the lucky ones who got the headliner for free. At that time I was glad because I wouldn't wanted to have paid for it. Now after living with it, I definitely would pay the $200 for it. I don't agree with the statement that it makes the interior look smaller, or that it interferes with vision. To each his own, but I really think it completes the interior when used with the Anthracite dash.

I split between frivolous options and only necessary ones. I do have a metallic color, but I don't have the sunroof. I feel there is so much to the looks of the MINI, and so many options, you can't pass up making it look exactly like you want it to - that's what it's all about. You make up the $200 in resale if you want to look at it that way (not that the headliner increases resale, just generally)

I completely agree that the vast number of choices MINI gives us is fantastic

As to whether you would pay $$$ for a headliner, if the standard was an all black interior from carpet to roof, would you buy as is or pay for the lighter colors? That's essentially the choice I made, but in reverse:smile:

Fairmont! I'd love to see more photos of the colored dash and headliner in the same shot! I'm ordering a Red Dash, and currently have the Headliner as standard, but have been back and forth alot. You could help me finally make up my mind! Thanks!!!

rollermonkey - here is a shot of mine or I should say my wife's:

CR interior and Anthracite headliner, sorry the headliner doesn't show in this pic, but all the important reasons I ordered the AH (at least to me) do show!

The door panels, the upper dash, lower dash, carpet, A-pillar covers, steering column trim, lower cubby etc all meld with each other. The only items that are odd, or stand out, are the down tubes and speaker covers. By ordering the AH, with its darker color A-pillar covers, I think it unifies the dash better then the silver would. I will be replacing the silver down tubes with Anthracite and thinking about the speaker covers. I'll take a shot that shows more of the headliner with the CR dash tomorrow.

But we could debate this choice until we are blue in the face and not change anyone's mind, if they don't like it.

I mean it's a $200 option, it's not like I blew $550 for H/K, $250 for Exterior Chrome, $149 for MINI iPod adaptor or $400 more for the Convenience pack! I can tell when it rains, I know how to turn on my headlights, my garage door came with an opener and the amount of exercise I get by twisting the RV mirror adjuster is just what I need at the end of a long day (plus it doesn't dim the side mirrors)

No offense to anyone that might have gotten all those options
