Did a search but didn't see specific answer - I'm about to order a new MC. While I'm excited about the car, I'm not in a particular hurry, since I have 2 cars and need to sell one (though I'm confident I can do so by the time my Mini is ready for deliver). It appears at least a possibility that there may be some advantage to ordering a 2006 model year car. I'm particularly interested in the possibility that there may be some "last year of the MkI run" special equipment or edition that I'll be sorry I missed. Don't know if I'll like the all new 2007 version or not, so I'm decided on getting an '05 or '06, but it seems that for me the '06 may be a better bet. Anyone have any info on possible changes?

 

motoringfile.com always has the latest news about the MINI, including any rumored changes for upcoming years. So far, the only possible change that I know of is the silver contrasting roof. I suspect MINI will not introduce very many differences over 2005. They are probably too busy working on the 2007 revison.

Don't expect any radical changes on the final production year of the current R50/53 MINI. The most significant changes already took place during the 2005 model year which was a "mid-cycle" refresher. 2006 will bring us probably a special edition model and some new colors plus accesories but noting earth shattering.

Unless you are after a limited edition 2006 model or a very specific paint color, you'll be just as happy with a new 2005.
