what you pay for your Mini
Hi everyone, I am new here and I am going to buy a Mini S for my girl friend, I just wondering anyone paying their Mini below MSRP? I paid $6500 below MSRP for my porsche and $4500 for my mercedes. Really want to know if Mini dealer will go below MSRP. Porsche and Mercedes dealer usually negotiate price and Porsche dealers even have a mark up for the new 997

I think the best you might be able to find is very slightly under MSRP.
Many dealers charge a few thousand OVER MSRP but I think they can generally get cars in faster. I paid right at MSRP but I had to wait 11 months to get my car.

St Louis Mini dealer wanted $2K over MSRP plus a $500 change of year (January) price increase even though stock was 2004. As a customer of a previous Mini and several BMWs I chose to buy at MSRP from Baron Mini in Kansas City. I took one off lot but could have ordered with 6-8 week delivery. Cost me a $75 plane ticket. Mini St. Louis has lost a customer except for service and they don't even care. Pretty tough to get below MSRP.
If you order the car you want, with the options that you want, you will pay MSRP. Some dealers will try to tack on their own charge above that. Avoid those dealers.
The only chance that you have to get one below MSRP is find a dealer with MINIs sitting on the lot, that they want to move. Your best bet with that is in Winter in the East or northern Midwest.
Good luck.

A year ago, I was doing the same thing you are doing: Trying to find an angle to haggle the price down on a new MINI. I had no luck, and unfortunately I don't think you will have much luck either.
If you search hard enough, you might be able to find a dealer that will give you a slight break on the price, but it will probably be such a minor change that it's not worth the hassle/extra driving time to go with the cheaper dealer.
You will probably have to settle for MSRP. But take solace in the fact that because there is no haggling, pretty much everyone gets the same deal, and when it comes time to sell that car, the re-sell value will be that much higher. Good luck.

21 months ago I paid MSRP for my 03 MC,off the lot, drove it away the next day.It had all the shipping plastic stuff still on it,had 10 miles on the odo.
The dealer did not want me to take it out for a test drive,as it was not fully prepped, but I insisted,it was what I would order otherwise. So off I went, put 50 miles on it,and did all the paper work when I got back.Paid 25K CND.At the time about 20K U.S

Such a deal!
I actually got $500 off MSRP on my MCS. After a week of ownership and reading comments on this site I think my experience was kinda odd. The dealership here in Jacksonville had 23 Minis to choose from. I got the guy down 500 bucks without beraking a sweat. I was in and out in 2 hours.
I paid MSRP and nothing more when I bought my MINI from what was Don Rosen Mini in Philadelphia (now called Main Line Mini). Our local dealer here in Pittsburgh has a MSRP policy also. If you can get it for slightly under MSRP more power to ya
.
I paid list for our incoming Cooper. We were offered a dicount, If we took one off of the lot, but my wife wanted what she wanted.
It was hard for me in that I work at a Volvo dealership and we are discounting and have incentives from the factory. But I agree for 22K, we are getting a ton of a car.

Everyone at my dealer, myself included, paid MSRP at my dealership. They are extremely vocal about letting you know that the price you print out from the website is the price you are going to pay. There is an incentive (not sure if its nation wide) that takes 500 off if you buy a mini that is in-stock. MSRP is about $2000 above what the dealers pay, but as my MA said..."I seel about 15-20 cars a month...I have no incentive to try and make deals because someone will be in to buy a car 2 days later if I don't sell it today.
I think that in order to get under MSRP youll have to wait until the market looses its interest.

We paid MSRP for both of ours. I have heard of a few owners - very few - that did manage to get $500 below MSRP. But in almost 3 years of ownership, that is the most I've seen posted....

I liked it all the way up to the part about automatic transmission.
If she doesn't know how to drive stick, you can teach her! Ever since my first stick car, I have NEVER driven anything else.
But that is such a nice thing to do for your girlfriend! Ok, the girlie in me coming out - are you ready to propose? Maybe you could tie an engagement ring to the inside of the boot, so when she opens it, her ring is dangling in front of her. Oh, that is unless you already have a wife, and she's your girlfriend.
