Wrong options on car

I called ASK MINI today and found out my car did not make the last boat. But while I was talking to the guy he said "congrats on your Chili Red and black MCS with the Panther leather". I didn't say anything but I did not order Panther leather. I got the leatherette. No way am I paying for it either. What happens if it does have it? Do you think the will let me drive it until the right seat comes in? Would they just let me keep it that way. Anyone had a similar experience?

What does your order sheet specify? You have a car & a price. That is what you want to buy and that is what you want your dealership to sell to you.

If the car is wrongly specified, you can try to argue that the dealership swallow the cost of the mistake ... or they might just insist on ordering another one for you, with the associated wait.

First make sure your order is what you think it is, then wait till the car comes in - if there is an error, play nice with the dealer ... sweetness will probably win more than aggression.

Don't fret yet. Give you dealer a call and check with them. I have a '05 HB with cloth and mine kept coming up on the site as PS w/ leather. It got here as I had ordered it. Not to say that mistakes don't happen...

I seriously doubt the dealer will "swallow" the cost of the Panther leather. The best case scenario is them splitting the cost of their mistake.

Other than that, unless you want this car right now, is to re-order and wait again which sucks big time.

Like GBMINI said, go over your original order sheet and make sure that the cars was specified with leatherette instead of leather. If this isn't the case, then you won't have any leverage against the dealer.

Good luck.

Did you change your order after it was placed? I ordered mine Chili Red, but the next day called my MA and told her to change it to Indy Blue. No problem, except the MINI USA site (owners lounge) still listed it as CR.

My guess is that if your MA wrote it up wrong and you didn't catch it, and that it was ordered with leather, then you need to order one without ASAP. I would not expect them to eat the cost because it was a mistake you did not catch. They will sell it off the lot.
If by chance, you signed the order for it with leatherette and it comes in with leather, then I believe you get a free upgrade! That is on them.

Look closely at the order that you signed. Go from there.

Cheers!

I have an order for leatherette. I didn't change the order either. I don't care if they don't give me the leather to keep, as long as they replace or give me a loaner car in the mean time. I am using a borrowed car that I have to give back on 4/1. The car should be ready for me around 4/7 or so. No way am I waiting another couple of months for a car, but no way am I paying for the leather. Hope it just comes the way I ordered.

I have heard some people say they actually like the leatherette better than the leather. And I am not planning on selling this car for years.

A call to your dealer is definitely in order at this point. It does sometimes happen that the MINIUSA site doesn't update correctly, but rather than wait and hope, you should clear this up right now to make sure the car is correct.

The dealer will likely not eat the error if there is one, so it's in your best interest to make sure the car is correct now rather than at the last minute.

Good luck
