R50/53 Windshield repairs
Well, today I couldn't resist any longer..... Had decided to garage the MCS for the winter, but could only hold out two weeks! So, since today was nice and sunny in the metro Detroit area, looked like a good day to take her out. Unfortunately, decided to take the expressway home and took a stone from a gravel hauler (I HATE THOSE THINGS!!!!) right at the base of the windshield!
Left me with a small (about 1" crack). Immediately drove to the nearest auto glass establishment for a repair. Looks very good, only a tiny point can now be seen.
My question is, what's the experience been with windshield repairs on the MINI's? I know there have been several threads regarding windshield replacements, so I'm kinda worried that the repair won't hold up. Do these repairs usually last? I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar experience.
Thanks,
Satchmo

About 5 days after I got my Cooper, I got a tiny (about half the size of my pinky fingernail) ***** in my windowshield, on the driver's side. I decided not to get it repaired, because it would cost too much. Have now had the car for about 4 months, and no other problems with the glass, knock on wood! I have heard the reason for this problem is the angle of the glass, but don't know the specifics.
Hope this helps!
