R50/53 MINI Road Rage
MINI Road Rage
Did anyone see the lead story on CBS news in NY at 11:00pm? It was a story about a MINI involved in a road rage incident and had video of a MINI driving down a NY street with someone hanging on to the windshield for dear life. Unfortunately, my TIVO turned off just when they were explaining what happened.

Either:
1. MINI got stolen and MINI owner was like "YOU AINT TAKIN THIS MINI PUNK."
or
2. MINI owner was driving, after trying to run down the attempted car jacker for trying to steal their MINI.

Here's the link, but not the link to the video clip itself since this stuff is normally protected from downloading.

Ok I'm kinda slow, and I'm still trying to figure out what happened. The guy that was hanging on (call him Hang Man) to the MINI was trying to keep the guy in the MINI(Call him Convict MINI) from fleeing.
So Hang Man was in the taxi cab first, some angry people came and started attacking the cab he just got in.
The reporter says that Hang Man got out of the car to confront this Angry guy and said he would call the police.
One of those angry people was the Convict MINI and drove off while Hang Man held on for dear life.
Cabbie got the license plate and another bystander happened to have a video camera rolling to catch the whole thing?
Hang Man was the hero with only a few minor scrapes. It didn't appear that the MINI was going very fast.
Hmmmmm, kinda looks like a MINIUSA guerilla marketing stunt to me.

I still dont get it.
Quite frankly, if some lunatic grabbed my MINI, I would get out and smash him. If I know I can't smash him, I dont want him pulling on my car, so I'm on the gas outta there.
I am not saying the MINI guy didn't do anything wrong, all I'm saying is we don't know the whole story. The guy grabbing the MINI could have been the loonie too.

got in the cab. The MINI owner
was angry with the cabbie (reason unclear
) and got out and kicked the doors of the cab
. The lunatic
got out and confronted the MINI owner
, who tried to drive away. The lunatic
grabbed onto the MINI to try and hold him for the police
, and got dragged down the street. The wicked police
arrested the innocent
MINI owner, and let the evil lunatic
go free.
Watching the video, did you notice how the cab had backed up when the
"good samaritan" jumped out, probably almost striking the MINI. This would tend to upset someone. I am still trying to figure out what that guy was holding onto. Another excuse to polish the car - to allow whackos to slide off the bonnet smoothly.
I am sure that if you ask the cabbie what happened,(who mysteriously was not interviewed), he'll say he was "just minding my own business, when all of the sudden - for no apparant reason....." This is usually how SUV drivers start their tale of roadrage when they cut someone off and wonder why the other guy's so mad!
The best part of the whole clip is the commercial at the begining:
"People do stupid things."

If the MINI driver was arrested for kicking the cab, the other guy should
be arrested for damaging the MINI by jumping onto it. I'm sure it got scratched somewhere. Criminal damage is criminal damage. Plus add a
charge of aggravated stupidness and impersonating a superhero.

The mini driver should have either accelerated to warp speed, (and if the creature hadnt flown off)he then should have slammed on the brakes-hard
Nobody is going to touch my MINI, or anyone elses.

Maybe I am wrong but two wrongs don't make a right. If I were the MINI driver and I kicked a cab (or whatever) and then someone came after me. First it is stupid to go after someone that is that in-raged (making the situation worse). And second If someone came up to my car (and I am as pissed off as that MINI driver was)...well things would not be pretty. It is not that I am justifing what the MINI driver did but it was a stupid move on hanging guys part to escalate the situation and put his life in danger. We have all had road incidents that have made our blood boil but it is not worth it to lose life or limb to prove who's got the bigger NUTZ.

, no more motorin for awhile.
