Radio help

I have no idea what the guy before me did. I have been trying to find diagrams and cross match on here..but I think I may need to gut the whole radio system....this is the set up. A jvc head unit that does not come on....and wiring in the door that makes me concerned for fires. I opened the door when doing window regulator. If I were to run new power from the fuse box which fuse is the radio? Could I just run new wire from there to head unit and too all the speakers? I want to make as easy as possible but seeing this rats nest I dont know where to start...

That is very disturbing. Hope that is the only thing the PO messed up. Before diving in, see if you can tell if this has the regular setup, or the Harmon Kardon. There are different amps and other specific pieces. Maybe a dismantler such as allmagauto can help with a harness section.

Yes, get a new cheapo head unit adapter. The speaker wires are so low voltage they’d never be a fire hazard. But it looks like you may want to inspect what the actual eff happened farther in there to be sure. I’d be suspect of the rca and preamp or anything else in that’s birds nest as well. Basically take it out and re-do it right.
