Personally, I wouldn't use brake or carb cleaner. It flashes off too quickly....and I would imagine Acetone, MEK or toluene might not be good for the rubber snout seal as it may dry it out. That is of course if you don't intend to replace it. IMO degreaser tends to re-nourish aluminum and metal without attacking the rubber seals as bad. But that is just my uneducated theory. I'll let the 'pros' chime in or correct my logic.

You’re right! Brake cleaner has its place. I do plan on replacing the rubber pieces as they are showing a fair amount of wear.

+1 looks really good. I'd stick with simple green on the outside only. the supercharger is not visible for the most part once its all back together

one other thing. you can reseal the water pump side. you can see how that side looks dark / grimy. that is evidence of the oil excepting. remove and seal with high temp gasket maker. that way your new oil stays inside

Both the bypass valve and throttle body are pretty accessible. so you can do them as needed. however if you can get the bypass valve for cheap I think that makes sense

I do plan on replacing the bypass valve; I have one in a “cart” along with other items; just need to press the button LOL

I’ve never thought about removing and resealing the water pump end; sounds like a good idea. The gears (or whatever) aren’t gonna “fall out” or anything will they? As I’ve said before, THIS is the furthest I’ve taken my mechanical abilities! LOL

no sir, just a few bolts. 4 I think. that end will come off. nothing should fall out. the gasket maker should be a bead that goes all the way around, on the inside of the thread holes

some good videos on YouTube about applying gasket maker
