Ordering a PW/PW '05 MCS Auto

Moving to Chicago in less than a week, and I'd finally like my wife to be able to drive the MINI. So I'm going to order an '05 MCS Auto in February. Gonna trade in the '02 MCS

I configured one on miniusa.com, what do you think of these options?

The big change is that I'm not gonna do the leather seats this time around. I saw the cloth in person, and I loved it!

Wow.

Hoky smoke! That car will be loaded. The carbon fiber dash ought to save a few grams. Just kidding.

How did you decide on the color? I have been pondering and pondering the same model in preparation for ordering. A few days ago someone posted a pic of a PW/B MCS with aero kit that looked amazing. And it was one of the color combos I have been seriously considering.

I wonder why the clear tail light is no longer an option because that would be nifty with your color choice. I notice you did not order the anthracite headliner and wonder if it is because most of your car's ceiling will have a sunroof. How about the glove box organizer? It would seem to be useful for its relatively low price. A friend with the parking distance control got so used to it he did not look anymore and bashed a metal pole (that in turn bashed his bodywork badly) because the distance control seems unable to detect thin objects.

Interesting idea about the space cloth upholstery. I have not seen it, but was told it looks great. The configurator shows it as a slightly blue-grey, but I was told it is closer to the grey naugabeast. I love leather, but all black is too somber and the other options don't suit my conservative taste (except that red-black in the MC40).

You're within a couple of weeks of ordering so this could be it. Good luck and be happy with your car and with Chicago--the GREAT American city (I attended school there).

No more clutching.

Wow. Thats quite the spec.

Its PDC necessary? Doesn't seem worth the $350.

Automatic

Have you actually driven the automatic? How does it compare to the 5 or 6 speed? I wonder if it won't take away from the fun of driving a MINI.

The carbon fiber dash is gonna get me more 10 more hp

I've always loved the PW, and every time I've seen it in person, I think it's even better!

I most likely won't get the PDC. It's one of the items I just threw on when configuring the car.

I'll be taking the glove box organizer I bought from Moss Mini and putting it in the new car!

About the Anthracite Headliner, I'm weird but I like the plain look more.

I have the Nav now in my '02 MCS, and definitely want it again.

I don't think anyone has actually driven and reviewed it yet. I'm really anxious to hear about it.

Being that it will mostly be a city car, and that my wife doesn't drive stick, I wanted to go with the automatic this time.

I don't want to burst your bubble or anything, but take a GOOD look at a PW before you order one. MAke sure you see it in person and make sure you take a good look when you pick it up. A while ago I posted by problems with a PW where the bumpers and the body are a bit of different colors. It's still noticable though.

I looked at a LOT of pw's and they all looked the same. I even looked online and most had this discrepency. It seems to me that the bumper is the correct color and the body has somehow gotten a lil darker ( when compared to a uniform color PW).

with that said, I have the PW and i still love it. Not sure what I would do if I got the chance to reorder now knowing about the color discrepency.

BTW. Welcome to Chicago, Do you know which dealer you are going to order from yet?

mataku,

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll be sure to take a very close look at this.

I think I might order from Knauz, since it's the most convenient one to downtown Chicago. It would be nice if there was a MINI dealer in the city!

Sounds very similar to our S-auto. Except no nav or PDC for us and we did opt for leather. The little guy is on the boat somewhere. Hope to have it by the end of the month.

Nice spec. I wonder how many current MCS owners are switching over to the MCS automatic?

You might want to reconsider the anthracite headliner... I've seen it in person several times and it looks fantastic with the Anthracite trim and chrome interior package.

The CF trim is only an applique. I wouldn't opt to get this, it looks very cheezy versus the real CF dash from aftermarket suppliers.

Since you like the Red/Black in the MC40, why don't you opt for the Black/Red cloth in the PW? It was one of the options I certainly liked.... there's one in the mini2 galleries if you want to see what it looks like.

I honestly didn't even know what the anthracite headliner was until i read the petition about it

I'll look for some pictures.

Thanks for thip on the Black/Red cloth. I like that one a lot coz of the octagonal pattern on it. I'll check out the mini2 galleries

Anthracite Headliner w/Anthracite trim and chrome package:

Pepper White w/Tartan Octagon! (Niiiiiceeeee):

Sorry for the big pics but they're just links to other albums I'm sure you've seen Tartan in person but it's much more muted than how they appear in these pictures, which are too saturated. I think it's a great combo.

Thanks for the pictures!!

I definitely like the anthracite headliner. I like Tartan/Octagon, but I don't think I'm brave enough to order a color like that

I Want An Anthracite Headliner

Man i really wish i could get my hands on a cheap anthracite package for the headliner and pillars, with my car(below) it ticks me off a little that i can't get it for less than like $1,000 from dealerships after delivery. the headliner and pillars are the only grey parts left on my car, so my advice is get the antracite while you can, it looks amazing,
Peace,
James
