I think the ice storm pictures were from Atlanta, but to us coastal Californians, the entire US past the Sierras is a blizzard from Nov - March.
Have been checking the weather, and it actually looks surprisingly good for early February...

Well, it looks like I'm motoring!
The wife says I'm nuts, and she's probably right.
If you see an '04 IB/W on I40, wave hello...
Hey, anybody in Richmond got a spare rim/tire lying around? I've never had a blowout on a long road trip, but thinking about the LONG stretches of OK, TX and hoping everything stays together!
Fri - Richmond to Cary, NC (I've got a friend there)
Sat- Cary to Little Rock, AR (or near there)
Sun- Little Rock to Santa Fe, NM (or near there)
Mon- Santa Fe to Bullhead City, AZ
Tues- Bullhead City to Santa Cruz
A fitting motoring trip for the new (to me) MINI. Hope the Nav is up to date on the good eating places en-route!

I like your route! My eastward route was L.A. to Albuquerque to Fort Smith, AR, to Birmingham, AL, last year, and that also took 2.5 days! It was a great speed-run!
You'll be on I-40 from Arkansas to Santa Fe...be sure not to miss the Cadillac Ranch near Amarillo, TX. It's like a funky folk-art Stonehenge!
If you want free high-speed internet, Comfort Inns have them! Have a fun and safe trip. So happy for you!

Great Choice!!
Over christmas I drove mine round trip from New York City to Houston Texas!
It was great. I made it in 26 hours each way. I slept in a couple of McDonald's parking lots on the way and then motored on.
Best of luck!

Full toggle rack - free (with purchase of MINI)
101 gallons of gas - $193.25
New set of wiper blades - $15.03
Motoring your MINI 3,200 miles home - Priceless!!
I'd do it again in a heartbeat - what a great trip!!
In spite of being stuck in a blizzard in Kansas, a zealous cop in TX (fix-it ticket for obstructed license plate) and a MASSIVE pothole in Arizona, the trip was a resounding success.
I saw only ONE MINI from VA to AZ, and nobody I talked to in the Midwest had ever seen one.
Will have a write-up with pictures soon. Thanks for all the words of encouragement - I'd have been SO disappointed if I hadn't done the drive!

As a matter of fact, I did go through St. Louis (the Gateway Arch is gorgeous!) I just didn't talk to anyone there.
Had an old guy in Kansas pepper me with questions - he was really funny, then two different cops asked about it.
edit: was planning a more southernly route, or I would have looked you St. Louis folks up!

But for some reason nobody wants to visit us
