R52 Fans not running
Fans not running
Hi all
Had my car in a mini specialist near me, for an MOT and check over, will also be going back shortly for supercharger service.
They mentioned that the fan isn't running, to start with they thought maybe the common resistor fault, but actually it's not running at all, low speed or high speed
They've advised it probably needs a new fan unit
Before it goes back in for the work, I wanted to check over things a bit
Fan definitely it isn't coming on when engine gets up to temperature where it should.
I have read that it should come on whenever AC is on too, but again it isn't.
Quick check with a multimeter is only showing 13+v on the connector when I get to somewhere over 100°c (didn't check precisely), but fan does not run.
No voltage on any of the 3 pins when engine is cooler, even when AC is turned on.
Tomorrow I'll try putting 12v on the fan connector pins, just to check it doesn't run still
I guess it looks like faulty fan at the moment
But confused as to why I'm getting 0v on the connector, when AC is running.
