R50/53 Tires
For clarification while keeping this conversation within the topic Michelin brand, I chose the PS4S in +1 size 215/45R17 (OEM S-spec 205/45R17 not shown available) rather than the PS4 (which is available in 205/45R17 but not +1 215/45R17). The PS4S achieved my objectives for a performance level tire which still has "reasonable" tread life rating (30k miles warranty vs 20k on PS4) plus just a bit taller to correct speedo error at highway speeds and also gain a bit of ground clearance in combo with JCW "Reds" Sport springs. My car is a "fair weather" driver, thus I didn't need a 4-season compound and tread type.
So many brands and model choices, which can make selection confusing. I like the comparo videos this guy has produced, including this one from 5 yrs ago - now a bit outdated with newer alternatives available since then (booked marked this one, since PS4S was my choice):

I have the Pilot Sport 4. Great tires. Very composed and responsive. Not as harsh as the Contis. I had Pilot Sport 4S on another car and they are great too. I've read that they are better but I can't say that I notice a difference. Having said that, I would have gotten the 4S if I'd been smart enough (like @MCS4FUN ) to check 215 width.

I have Pilot sport 4's on my car and they're fantastic tires, but they are noisy. I don't notice the noise too much when I'm by myself, but I struggle to hear my kids talk when we're on the highway. I also think I'm not going to get much more than 20,000 miles out of them.
That said, I'd probably buy them again. Michelin tires have an automatic warranty included. My first set didn't make it to their mileage guarantee so I got a discount on my current set of tires. I also hit a piece of road debris and destroyed a tire and wheel. Michelin replaced the roughly year old tire with a brand new one and it cost me $50 mounted and out the door.
So I guess I have a little bad to say about them, but I think the good outweighs the bad, and I like them more than any other tires I've had.
