R53 fuel breather

Righto what would happen if the bottom connection of the fuel breather was disconnected or blocked ??

reason is mine has a damaged pipe down the fire wall, it’s now two piece

believe that's item 3 'scavenge air line'
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=16_0576
starting to become unobtanium but still available here and there:

one hit on evilbay just now as well [Germany]
and of course bone yards...

maybe high quality duct tape or splice / sleeve with vacuum or fuel line at the break until a replacement can be sourced(?)

also looks painful to R/R

Cut a piece of appropriately sized fuel line and stick the broken pieces in either end. The line is carrying only vapor not pressure.

These are hard to find, but not impossible for my 2006 MCS R52.

I just ordered the scavenger and vacuum pipes/lines I damaged trying to free a frozen bolt on the engine block. Was challenging to find. FCP said they had them, then cancelled cause they diand can't get them. Outmotoring had one and still waiting for the scavenger line I ordered on eBay shipping from Latvia.

I repaired my lines using clear, flexible PVC line, but still getting a 1477 code. "Leak Detection Pump reed switch did not open" I'll see if this fixes it.
