My door won't shut

Well after reading many posts about stuck windows, my MINI window finally stuck. I was on the highway for about 2 hours in -6F weather and when I arrived home the window did not drop when the door opened. So when I shut the door it would not shut but bounced back open. There was no snow during my trip just cold. I thought the door handle might be frozen so tried to using a hair drying to warm the handle but the window still will not drop. Window works fine up and down from inside the car. Lucky the MINI is in the garage. I had to roll the window down a couple inches to shut the door. Anyone else have this problem?
Could be a problem in the morning if I have to leave the driver window slightly open at work, while it's snowing.

The only time this has happened to me was because the window was not up all the way,by an 1/8 of an inch.I think if you hold the toggle up for 5 seconds or so,the window brains reset.Give it a try.

Door won't shut

Tried the 5 second window up and no luck. It's still -16C (-4F) in the garage. Maybe it's just the cold. Thanks anyway.

I had and still have problems with my door when it is cold. Last year, I had to get towed to the dealer for replacement of the door handle. The handle also controls the interior lighting so my lights stayed on all night. They would fade and then come back on while the window was doing this up/down dance.

I also saw a post a while back regarding the springs on the outside handle being weak. The person replaced them and it solved a lot of his issues.

Oh, and my car did the same thing as yours initially. It would work fine with the window down a smidge. Just when it tried to do that dip would it fail. Be prepared, your handle may be ready to fail completely like mine did.

I still have problems with the handle freezing and it being difficult to open the door. As a result I usually take my wife's car to work. (We work different shifts). There are a lot of minor inconveniences I can live with, but this is not one of them. It has me seriously reconsidering my next car purchase. I really wanted a convertible, but with this lingering problem, who knows?

Windows working

Hey lot15 you were very close. Called the MINI tech and he advised to open the window all the way then close it and hold the window switch up for 1 to 2 minutes to reset the system. It worked. Saved a trip to the dealer.
